Hunting & Fishing Elk hunting caliber

I've takne them with 30-06, 300 Win Mag, and the last one I took was with the .375 H&H. THe next will likely be with a 404 Jeffery just because I can. THen again I may sell off the 404 barreled action, and get another .375 H&H I personaly believe the 375 H&H is about the ultimate go anywhere...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Question on measurement of Sig P226 front sight.

The top of the sight has a bit of a slope to it, and measuring that way it's awfully easy to tip the caliper inducing error in the measurement.

Hunting & Fishing Who runs a Mil Dot Scope on their Prairie Dog gun?

It can be done. under some conditions I was having a terrible time getting good consistent readings from my LRF. The furthest I have gotten a good range on a PD using mils was in the neighborhood of 650. That's what I dialed for, and the shot connected. Beyond that the conditions...

Hunting & Fishing What's the best way to get skunk spray off of your dog?

The mix Drumie mentions is the stuff to go with. Used it several times with my Giant Schnauzer and a few other dogs. It works better than anything else I've tried. You may still smell it a bit when the dog gets wet for a few days afterward, but it sure knocks down the smell quite a bit. You...

Gunsmithing 1991 make a good build

The 1991 is just an 80 series colt. Done several builds on them. They are a good base to work from, just a lot of plastic, and junk internals, all happen to be parts I would be replacing anyways.

Talk me out of buying an AICS 2.0 for my Rem 700

For me the grip and thumbhole configuration was uncomfortable on the AICS as I have relatively large hands. I ended up going with a Gen 2 W3 on my last build, and it is the most comfortable stock I have.

As long as you're both agreeable to the trade go for it. Pretty fair all around.

Gunsmithing stock repair, will glassing this work well enough?

deffinately secure the crack first prior to installing a cross bolt. Depending on how much oil has soaked into the wood at that point you may or may not get a solid joint.

    Gunsmithing Badger M2008 and M2013

As far as the aluminum base. neither here nor there. There are a lot of us running aluminum rings, and are of the opinion that if the rings and mounts are of good high grade aluminum you won't have an issue. Will the ultimate strength of them be less than an equivalent steel piece? of course...
