S & S Precision Rifles in Argyle Texas

Re: S & S Precision Rifles in Argyle Texas Stick is good to go. Sharp old guy, knows his stuff, and builds a good rifle. I wouldn't hesitate to have him do any work for me.

    Jewell Failures?

Re: Jewell Failures? Any of them will have issues if not maintained. Jewell used to be the only one recomended, with the caveat that you needed to maintain it. However there are now triggers that are newer, and more expensive sothat is what everyone has to have. I can honestly say I have...

    M98 action chassis systems?

Re: M98 action chassis systems? I really doubt you will find a chassis type setup for a 98 Mauser. If you really want one it's probably going to be a one off type of build, and not a regular production item.

Gunsmithing Need help with a 1911 Colt and hammer following

Re: Need help with a 1911 Colt and hammer following Make sure there is nothing in the full cock notch of the hammer. Being an older gun there could very easily be some junk that has built up in there over time. Then the sear spring, and also check the nose of the sear and make sure it...

    Die Question

Re: Die Question On most of my calibers I use a FOrster Bushing bump die to size, and then seat with wilson hand dies on my arbor press.

    6.5x47 lapua vs 260 rem

Re: 6.5x47 lapua vs 260 rem Weight limit on ammo 11 pounds. Really sucks when flying with the big stuff in the neighbor hood of .404J and .458 Lott.

    Stiller Predator Action

Re: Stiller Predator Action I've used several of the Stiller actions, and everyone has done very well. If you use a Stiller the action will not be the limiting factor in your build.

Broughton Rifle Barrels compared to Bartlein

Re: Broughton Rifle Barrels compared to Bartlein Well let's see. Right now in the safe I have rifles wearing Krieger, Bartlien, Obermeyer, Brux, and a couple Douglas. I've also had Rock, another Brux, a couple Lilja barrels, a few Broughtons, and a few more Kriegers, Bartliens, and one...

Does anyone use shilen triggers for tactical rifle

Re: Does anyone use shilen triggers for tactical rifle SHilen triggers are great and are my choice on most hunting rifles where I'm not after a pull weight measured in ounces. Most of my rifles have either Shilen or Jewell.

    Build List

Re: Build List For the x47 THe 130's are about perfect. Mid 2800 fps neighborhood is easy to run with them.

    Gunsmithing Recontour Barrel

Re: Recontour Barrel Shouldn't be a problem. If it were a new unused blank then yes, sell and buy another as the cost of recontouring would be higher than the loss on the blank. I've turned a few down and they shot fine, but the process is a pain in the butt.

    Hunting/tactical trigger for Rem 700?

Re: Hunting/tactical trigger for Rem 700? In your price range I give the nod to Shilen. Thin smooth trigger face. Never have cared much for timney triggers, I've had a few in the past for a couple different rifles and they were little if any improvement from what could be done with a...

For The Money, Best Long Gun For Beginner?

Re: For The Money, Best Long Gun For Beginner? How about putting those funds toward some upgrades to your existing Rem in 243? Depending on the existing setup this may be the best bang for the Buck.

difference between bartlein and ER shaw

Re: difference between bartlein and ER shaw I'd just as soon use a factory barrel as a Shaw. They are in a completely different class from bartlein, Krieger, obermayer, brux, Schneider, rock etc.

Member Link Up anyone around laramie wyoming?

Re: anyone around laramie wyoming? I used to be in the area. They must have extended the range up there if it's that long now. It used to be only 500 or 600 if I remember right. I know there are a few guys on here from Cheyenne.
