Re: Badger,Whiskey 3,C.Dixon I'm doing and almost identical build. Swap the barrel to an Obermeyer MTU in 6.5x47, and put in a Jewell trigger and an FTE brake.

**Is the Badger M2008 an updrade to an AI?

Re: **Is the Badger M2008 an updrade to an AI? The biggest change I would like to see on the 2008 would be the change to a 3 position safety as seen on the M-70 just because i' have more of them than anything else. It's just what I'm used to.

    Gunsmithing Cutting Barrel TenonThreads

Re: Cutting Barrel TenonThreads I thread that way with the tool flipped upside down and run in reverse. I don't have any issue threading toward the shoulder, but when running in reverse I can thread at 600 RPM and get a cleaner finish.

Hunting & Fishing So I got an Order: Shoot Coyote

Re: So I got an Order: Shoot Coyote For a bait station, that won't be drug off, take a 5 gallon bucket by one of the local meat cutters and have him fill it with the trimmings he would normally just throw out. Fill the bucket with water and freeze solid. Tke the meat sickle and put it where...

    Gunsmithing FFL 07 quandary

Re: FFL 07 quandary The work around works fine, but is a real pain in the butt if you're doing work for someone who isn't local. Most of the rifles I built were for guys 1000+ miles away, and most of them had no interest in collecting all the parts themselves.

Gunsmithing Cutting down a plastic stock??

Re: Cutting down a plastic stock?? The suggested expanding foam works fine. Then epoxy in a piece of wood to anchor the new pad to. I've done this on a couple of the cheap plastic stocks for people in the past.

Gunsmithing what is better flat vs.round spring ?

Re: what is better flat vs.round spring ? All else being equal the round spring will probably have a longer life as the load can be more evenly distributed through the spring.

Pre war model 70, what to do?

Re: Pre war model 70, what to do? I say restock it, but I'd go the route of sending it off to a good stock maker, and have a nice piece of walnut put on it. Putting that rifle in fiberglass to me is like putting spinners on a Model T Ford. Ya Just Don't Do It....

Gunsmithing Best options for "bottle blue"

Re: Best options for "bottle blue" 44/40 does pretty well. The stuff that's been on my bench the past several years is oxopho blue. I wouldn't swear to it, but it wouldn't supprize me if they are the same stuff with a different label

    New rifle build...which actions

Re: New rifle build...which actions I've used Surgeon, several Stiller's, and several Badgers. I like them all. I have built tack drivers with each of them. Considering the stock you want I'd most likely go with either the surgeon or the stiller depending on which one had the action I wanted...

Fieldcraft Rifle in pack or not

I've generally just used a small day pack for my stuff, but my last one finally bit the big one. There is some additional gear I would like to be able to pack, and will have to go up to a larger pack. At this point I am narrowed down to a Gunslinger II, Phantom, or Low Draw from Eberlestock...
