I am in the process of trimming my 721 action to accommodate a timney 510 trigger and was looking for suggestions on what type of bluing solution I should use to protect the metal exposed by the milling.

I have looked at Formula 44/40 and Dicropan T-4 so far.

I've used 44/40 in the past with excellent results. Just be sure to thoroughly quench the area with oil after you're done. I drench it in CLP and let it sit over night, buff it in and drench it again, buff it and then reassemble. This makes for a nice dark finish and it has held up pretty well.

44/40 does pretty well. The stuff that's been on my bench the past several years is oxopho blue. I wouldn't swear to it, but it wouldn't supprize me if they are the same stuff with a different label
