    Building the Perfect Reloading Room

Some really nice setups in here. Sirhrmechanic... major space envy going on over here :-) And very organized, love it! Unfortunately I have been relegated to a 10 foot space in my office, so I had to be creative and organized to fit everything. My saving grace has been the Inline Fab mounts...

Range Report Federal gold medal 185gr Berger

Good question. Might be due to the temps and/or altitude. Here are the dates, temps, and Density Altitudes of those outings: (I log everything in excel each time I go out shooting) 7/17/2016 92 3000 7/19/2016 90 2964 7/30/2016 100...

Range Report Federal gold medal 185gr Berger

I had AI mags modded to accept a 2.950 OAL, and then had Short Action Customs chamber a new barrel in .308 based on the Juggernaut bullet at that length, with a little room to account for throat wear. When I moved over to the Hybrids, best accuracy came at a longer OAL. I cut it off at 2.945 to...

Range Report Federal gold medal 185gr Berger

Just as a data point, my old Juggernaut load was 42.4gr of Varget in a Lapua case, 2.920 COAL. Got me 2680 out of 26' 10 twist barrel. Fairly mild load at 61k psi, but most accurate and consistent with ES/SD. I moved on to the 185 Hybrids, as they proved more accurate in my gun & better BC...

    Broke the LabRadar AGAIN !

I've had a mag V3 for a couple years & its been dead reliable. I did however pick up a lab radar solely for the purpose of being able to Chrono and do load development at the same time. Took a lot of fiddling around to get it to work properly, and also had to use different positions for...

Rifle for the lady friend - FN SPR A5M XP vs 700 5-R Gen 2, 308

If you are expecting 1/4" groups out of factory rifles with factory ammo, prepare to disappointed. With that being said, seems like most SPRs shoot 1/2 moa or better with FGMM. I think the Remmy is more of a lotto with the barrel you get.

Anealing vs. neck tension vs. SD

Here's what I do: Dan Newberry's OCW. I usually start .015 off the lands. I also use Quickload as well, so I don't have to run the entire gamut of charges, I pretty much know where I want to be, so its either 5 or 6 charge weights, 3 shots each, in .3 increments. I find the middle node of...

Anealing vs. neck tension vs. SD

Agree 100% with Milo & Padom. Its a load problem. With that being said, I used to use the Anneal-rite system to anneal every 2-3 firings. My ES would typically range between 10-15 fps, and single digit SDs. Was very happy with that. I then picked up an AMP and annealed every firing. I...

F T/R Competition Comment on F-Class Open build

Sorry to butt in on your thread, but I am also in the process of wanting a custom F-Open rifle myself. What are the thoughts on a full build like this from Kelbly?: http://www.kelbly.com/arcas-f-open-rifle.html Looking at roughly $5k. Could I do much better assembling parts myself and...

KRG Habu 6.5 CM Project Rifle

Nice rig op! The Ferrari of chassis for sure. You must have definitely been inspired by the pics on their website, since it looks to be a clone, down to the Kahles scope and spuhr mount.

    Ruger Precision Rifle Discussion

Hey gents, just wanted to let you know I have a used LRI .243 RPR barrel for sale: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/forum/sniper%C2%92s-hide%C2%AE-post-exchange/options-accessories-for-sale/6392502-wts-long-rifles-inc-ruger-rpr-243-barrel Might be a good option if you want to get your feet...

.308 "Obsolete" Article vs 6.5 CM

I'm glad someone mentioned this. Definitely doing the .308 a disservice by using an antiquated pedestrian load for comparison purposes. There are new factory options with 185 Juggs, and all kinds of bullet options nowadays to close the gap. I am personally using a 180 flatline with a G1 of...

Apparently FN discontinued every model of SPR except one.

Sad to hear this. I wish somebody would adopt their chrome barrel making technique on the open market. Would be great to buy a 5,000 rd life 6mm barrel. I still own and shoot my FN SPR A1, going on 13 years now. It has served me well throughout its life. Started out with this: Sent it...

Just Finished the Reloading Bench Build

Nice setup flashhole. I can appreciate neat & organized benches. Hats off to you guys that build your own. Admittedly I'm not very handy that sort of way, so I went & bought a Kobalt from Lowe's. It got sturdy after I used some T brackets reinforcing the work top & back wall in addition to...

    Am I wasting my time?

I had the same exact dilemma w/ 5,000 rounds of once fired LC brass, all different years. Took me better part of the summer doing a little bit at a time to SS wet tumble, trim, size, and prime em all. Boy what a good feeling that was to get that very last one done. I didn't sort by year, but...

    Pistol OCW test/results/observations

That's possible on the very first shot, but I went through the entire thing round robin style, so that wouldn't explain the later groups. I loaded a total of two mags with each successive charge weight in the same order as I shot them on the target. Next time around I'm gonna do five 5 shot...

    Pistol OCW test/results/observations

I love Titegroup since it doesn't spill out of the case when indexing in my LnL AP. Just a little scary since there isn't a large margin of error w/ the charge drops. I haven't tried loading out of the powder dropper yet, so hopefully it stays within at least .2 grains. Yea these Everglades...

    Pistol OCW test/results/observations

Well my HS6 supply ran dry, so I was forced to choose another powder. I switched to Titegroup and decided to try running an OCW test on it, much like you would for rifles. Originally I just matched velocity to Winchester .40 s&w factory ammo for my HS6 loads, but this time around I wanted to...

Redding Bushing Dies for Semi-Auto Use

I have a JP supermatch in .223 Wylde and I use a Redding body die in conjunction w/ a Redding neck die. For match/accuracy loads, I shoot Lapua .223 brass that I skim turn. Use the .245 bushing. Gets me .5moa accuracy (sometimes better when I'm lucky) and haven't had any problems whatsoever...

    Crappy groups AFTER annealing

That is weird, bc I have had the exact opposite experience. Accuracy, ES/SD all improve after annealing. I'm gonna have to say its your technique. Are you just using one torch? Going just by color change isn't the most accurate way of doing it. I use the anneal rite system which isn't as...
