Question about neck turning 6.5 Creedmoor

No worries there, I trim to 1.925" and they come out to 1.915" which allows me to trim down a little after forming for a finish trim using my 3 way cutter. Just finished forming 355 LC LR cases, did it all in one step as well, after trimming to 1.925" then I run them through my Forster full...

Wet Tumbling; how do you separate brass and stainless pins?

I use the Frankford Arsenal Wet/Dry media separator, it's a very handy tool, I'm not sure why it took me so long to buy one!

Muzzle velosity change after case annealing

I would suspect that after 10-12 loadings the brass was pretty well work hardened so when you annealed it you softened it up and made it more elastic. My best guess for the higher velocity is that now it's softer and more elastic so the case neck is sealing the chamber better which makes the...

Has anyone seen this with LC LR brass?

LC LR is the match version of the brass so they aren't crimped.

Has anyone seen this with LC LR brass?

As I said this is the only one that is a perfect circle like that plus it came from 1x fired military brass, the others are not quite as pronounced or it's just one side etc. edit: and if I had seen it before, I wouldn't have posted this thread asking about it.

Has anyone seen this with LC LR brass?

Neither have I. I'm planning to quarantine every piece that looks like that which is maybe 20-30 pieces and load them separately to see if it affects SD/ES/Accuracy and if it does I'll scrap the brass. It's just unfortunate because at that point I will have reformed them to 6.5 Creedmoor, neck...

Has anyone seen this with LC LR brass?

So a few weeks ago I purchased a couple hundred LC LR brass to convert to 6.5 Creedmoor, they still had the red primer sealant and hadn't been decapped. After cleaning and decapping them I noticed that some of them have flashholes that look like this. Granted this one was one of the really bad...

Question about neck turning 6.5 Creedmoor

Hornady brass has a neck thickness of roughly 0.0135" and I've never lost a case due to a split neck as I anneal after every firing so I figured if I go with 0.0145" (assuming I'm unable to get the specs) then that should be a pretty safe thickness. I bought this barrel before I really got into...

Question about neck turning 6.5 Creedmoor

I tried it before I decided to post, .0175" is too thick to chamber . After looking around at other posts I think I'm going to go with .0145", hopefully the thicker neck will stand up to the abuse a bit better. Thanks for your help

Question about neck turning 6.5 Creedmoor

Unfortunately that information didn't come with the barrel. I have an email out to Criterion asking for the reamer specs that they use in the barrels that they make for Fulton Armory. So really I guess I'm asking what would be a safe bet? I know it's not a super tight chamber.

Question about neck turning 6.5 Creedmoor

Hey all, So I took delivery of my new 21st Century neck turning lathe, I just started converting 308 LC LR to 6.5 Creedmoor to use in my AR-10 as I've found that Hornady brass doesn't hold up because it's quite soft and Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor is too expensive to risk using in a gas gun. After I...

Load Development on a New Barrel

I usually try to put 50-75 rounds through a barrel before I get serious with load development. Sometimes though the barrel is ready to go right away and my first 50-75 rounds are load development rounds, other times I'll have a barrel that has erratic velocities / SD's until it breaks in and...

WTB: Lapua 308 and LC LR/MATCH Brass

As the title states I'm looking to buy some 308 Lapua and/or 308 LC LR brass. I'm going to be converting this brass to 6 XC and 6.5 Creedmoor (LC for my AR10) and since I'm just starting out I'm planning for there to be more than a few ruined cases along the way and as such I'm not looking to...

Hornady 140 ELD-M Inventory Dried Up

This is exactly why I've been buying up all of the 140gr AMAX that I see pop up, I think I've got 800-900 and just sent out another MO for another 400. Plus I'm getting them for $0.18-$0.20 each which is far cheaper than the $33/box Hornady is now charging for that sweet new heat resistant tip...

Over Pressure Problems, I got 'em

An ejector mark by itself is not necessarily an indicator of an overpressure condition, I see absolutely nothing wrong with any of the brass pictured above and would continue to look for a load.

    Grendel loading

I'm using the 123gr AMAX / ELD in my 24" 6.5 Grendel barrel, I would recommend you try them out as the 123gr bullets and the 6.5 Grendel go together perfectly!

    Random ejector marks

Ejector swipes by themselves do not indicate over pressure. The common pressure signs that people preach are just suggestions and possible things to look for and by themselves don't necessarily mean anything. When you start getting multiple pressure signs then you're probably getting close to a...

    Powder choice ?

When I got started in reloading last year I was completely overwhelmed with all of the different powders so I asked on some forums what I should go with. My first two powders were 8208 XBR and Varget, I'm still using them a year later and have only added one new Powder and that's H4350. I only...

    WTB redding bushings for 6mm

Brownell's has all 3 sizes in titanium nitride in stock. I didn't check the regular steel versions but I think they are as well. Edit: Just checked and the regular steel ones are as well.
