Night Vision Upgrade from pvs-22 to pvs-30, worth it?

Wow this thing got busy. Thought it faded away. A stomach bug kept me indoors tonight, had to cancel hunting plans, otherwise I’d be glassing fields now. Seems like the ATACR scopes work well for some. The 4-16x50 would probably suit me well. I also mostly use the lowest power scanning fields...

Night Vision Upgrade from pvs-22 to pvs-30, worth it?

I ordered it from TNVC who got it direct from FLIR IIRC. Had to wait a few weeks for it to be built at the factory as they are assembled as ordered due to the cost of new or were at that time. I’d have to dig out the literature on mine to find the specs. That’s not an option at this very moment...

Night Vision Upgrade from pvs-22 to pvs-30, worth it?

Well I finished napping in between graveyard shifts so I can resume this. Yes I believe I read the rental units can be purchased. Which could be a good option if the tube is outstanding. I remember the other thread talking about the FOM# and understand the slight difference in tubes given a...

Night Vision Upgrade from pvs-22 to pvs-30, worth it?

Thanks, I didn’t consider the serviceability aspect. Would suck if it’s past warranty and needs work and they won’t fix it. I just messaged FLIR about mine on that same aspect. I just saw that Ultimate Night Vision in Fort Worth has 1 pvs30 that they rent out for $250 a weekend. So there’s that...

Night Vision Upgrade from pvs-22 to pvs-30, worth it?

I’m thinking maybe I should snag a pvs30 refurb while I can at half price of new before they are gone. Already have a pvs22 purchased a couple years ago and the size and weight are great. But It gets fuzzy quick adding magnification with Nightforce 3.5-15x50. Seldom go over 6 power. 8 tops...

The fate of the Remington 700 in 2017

Maybe the Remington big brains don't give a shit because they're about to unveil their version of the x-ray gun from the movie Eraser. And corner the defense market. All bs aside from QC issues they need to update their barrel twists in the worst way for some of the product line up for...

HELP With Surefire SOCOM Suppressor Mount

I wish I could go look at mine right now to see if it's different but It doesn't have a lot of washers to time it. It's been tight and shot quite a bit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the barrel threads are cut perfect and the FH is timed perfect when torqued; are the washers even needed?

Remington, 2nd Largest Gunmaker Nears Default

Remington's woes = self inflicted IMO. Kind of sucks because I like their line up and variety but if they aren't building them right what the hell are they even doing all day. I remember 700's and 1100's from the 80's that ran hard and had reliability to be reckoned with. I don't have a stake in...

The Biggest Yellow Jackets Nest in Louisiana

Lots of fuel and a flare gun for sure! Then again, that shed could make a nice holding cell for the ms13, cartel, and other scumbag types. Mother Nature can be a mean bitch sometimes.

I'm curious what rifles will come out at SHOT chambered for this round. Maybe a Ruger of sorts. I might be willing to give it a try.

Night Vision Using NVG's for LR Hunting

A gen 3 d-740 on an AR use to be the de-facto go to starter rig for night hunting hogs and predators, varmints back before thermal was all the rage. Used to get them for $3500 + rifle. Worked well enough for me and many others. Darkness to cover your movements on a stand was a huge bonus but...

Night Vision Lens covers for pvs/12 Aquila 6x

The price is good. AR + scope for slightly less than a new pvs-14. No warranties though. Repair capability hard to find if at all. Hence my indecision. butler creek caps and the like obviously don't go large enough. Maybe something for large camera telephoto lenses.

Night Vision Lens covers for pvs/12 Aquila 6x

I was going to buy an Aquila 6x scope from a hunting acquaintance but the rear lens cover is lost and the front one is trashed. Tied on with string. Guy is pretty hard on his shit. My search for replacements was unsuccessful and I'm not buying it as is. Any suggestions where to look. Ive...

Night Vision Using NVG's for LR Hunting

Yes or vice versa. Personal preference. For quarter mile distance you'll want some magnification. A good IR illuminator for eye shine helps when the weeds are up if using night vision. Day scope and a buddy holding a good spotlight lots cheaper too but critters smarten up pretty quick to that.

Range Report 308/198gr Flatlines ELR in MT - results from field

30-06 seems like it would strike a good balance. But the mad scientist part in me is curious about these flatlines in a 300 Norma/ ultra mag; 30-378 weatherby, 300 raptor.

Tips for removing primer over spray from a welder??

I used simple green, rags and lots of elbow grease to get the same overspray off my truck once. But it was speckled coverage, not a full coat. Less harsh than acetone but might take off the white lettering on the display panel. Glass cleaner and a razor blade gets it off glass well.
