MSNBC’s Joy Reid calls rural voters ‘core threat to our democracy’

By Douglas Ernst - The Washington Times - Monday, November 27, 2017

A recent article by the Wall Street Journal had MSNBC’s Joy Reid declaring rural Americans “the core threat to our democracy” over the weekend.

The host of “AM Joy” followed up her recent claim that the National Rifle Association seeks to create a landscape littered with murderous “warlords” with a new prediction over Thanksgiving: Rural voters will become de facto tyrants by 2040.

“This is the core threat to our democracy,” Ms. Reid tweeted Saturday night in response to a Journal piece titled “The Varied — and Global — Threats Confronting Democracy.”

One element of writer Gerald F. Seib’s piece mentioned that 70 percent of Americans are expected to live in the 15 largest states by 2040. That reality, if it came to fruition, would create a scenario where “the remaining 30 percent of Americans will have 70 senators representing them.”

“The rural minority — the people [author] @JYSexton just wrote a long thread about — have and will continue to have disproportionate power over the urban majority,” Ms. Reid continued.

She then told readers that “the abolition of the Electoral College” would help stave off the “core threat” posed by rural voters.

The Blaze noted on Monday that Ms. Reid’s fears run counter to those of the Founding Fathers, who feared heavily populated states would wield too much political power without the Electoral College.

“As of the 1790 census, 74 percent of America’s population lived in the seven largest states, which means that America’s population has always been concentrated in larger states, since the time of its founding,” wrote the conservative website’s Sara Gonzales. “Reid is not objecting to a threat to American constitutional democracy. She’s objecting to a central feature of American constitutional democracy — a central feature that has been present since the founding of the country.”

Well at least one of them came out and said it.
I will give The Blaze credit, in my opinion they correctly interpreted the founders concerns.
I also agree with Veer that disarmament is a primary concern.

And that is where the damn supreme court is supposed to step the fuck up and make it known that individual rights matter.

Besides the 2nd i also have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Which firearms give me all three. I could be the last firearm owner in the country and I have the right to do so.

I'd love to see the libs evicted from Colorado. Return this area to the "fly over country" they love to demean and look down upon. If they want to keep NYC and LA, we'll keep the rest.

Well, then again, they promised to move to Canada....

Thats always been the plan here. I’ve got no intention of going anywhere.

When I worked in the city, you either wore sneakers or you wore boots.

With sneakers, you could take it on the arches, and possibly get away.

I almost always wore boots. The hell with running.

Oh hells Naw.... we ain't want'n that scum. Unfortunately, we've still got enough of your draft-dodging squatters, from the Vietnam era. Go ahead, ask me my thoughts of THEM?

Fact is, we are a threat to what she calls her democracy, this country was founded as a REPUBLIC, not a damned democracy. Individuals have clearly defined, inalienable rights in our REPUBLIC, democracy is mob rule.

I haven't been really hung up on what they wanted to call it, so long as they didn't force the issue and try to change the nature of the Federal government and its relationship with its constituent States.

The mewling masses have been there forever, unaware of the true history and nature of the party that has ridden them like the jackasses that they are.

Unfortunately, they've gone unminded and unchecked for so long that it now occurs to them that they can force the issue and reform us into a real democracy, custom-made for the Soroses of the world.

However, they're blocked for now, and full of pent-up rage because we remain a Representative Republic.

It's a mass psychosis on their part, a joint emotional asymptote praying and straining to bend an immovable revolutionary curve into a straight line of reality that will only come to pass over our dead bodies.

I used to think that we could just let them to their moonbat devices, but the time is drawing near for a change in strategy.

Make no mistake. These people are viciously determined and more committed in many instances than most of us are.

Nobody ever thinks that they will one day be subject to violent political vicissitude, but it happens.

Get ready.

So, would you say there ought to be an app for that?

There’s that saying it goes something like.....

You can avoid reality, but you can not avoid the consequences of avoiding reality””—

I think that’s where we are today with what we have put up with from the left and what we have let the left become and it’s only going to get worse because I don’t see that train stopping anytime soon.

She's just voicing what most libs believe. Check out the comments to news articles on your favorite news site. They truly believe our country is FUBAR because "ignorant farmers" farmers are allowed to vote.

This is how the senate was designed. Ironically it would seem, in a bid to assure small- LESS populous states- that they would have equal say in the government...

And the Senators used to be elected by the state legislatures. We need to go back to that.

These motherfuckers mentioning the constitution now.......they're playing with fire.

All this bullshit would have been avoided had the founding fathers had the foresight to require land ownership to vote. Nobody without skin in the game should get a say. It is actually opposite of what this liberal hack has to say. In reality the urban masses (where entitlement turds are as thick as rats) have control over the rural areas where the real working part of the country lives and owns the majority of the total land of the US. The only thing that saved us in terms of the vote was that this population used to apathetic. Now that libs have learned how to get them out to vote we will soon see a time when those with no input into the economy are voting themselves more and more to the point of system failure. The story of every republic in history.

That's the problem. People today think that there's an app for everything. Unless you're making a sly reference to Strelok Pro?

I think Stewie might have already selected "Kitty Snuggles."

Can we just shoot for the prerequisites to be a legal US citizen and breathing with a ID for starters...........also I think there should be a time period before new legalized citizens can vote like maybe 1-2yrs after becoming a citizen.

And can we add that you cede your right to vote while receiving funds from the government other than retirement benefits?

The founding fathers purposefully did not include that you must be a landowner to vote.
The legal citizen with a govt issue ID would be enough for me.
The idea of you cant be on the dole is less than perfect and I would say inconstitutional.

On the other hand, I would support a measure to decrease benefits for congress when they retire and make some serious changes to what businesses anyone in their family can be involved in while they are in office (think Pelosi).

There was and is no "right to vote" in the Constitution.
