    260 barrel lenth

OP - for your purpose - I would do 24-26, as heavy as barrels are for your type of shooting the longer ones are still pretty stiff and accurate. Having had a few 29.1" M96 mausers, 6.5x55, I shot one with Irons, and chopped the others at 21 and 24. The 21 was my pick for hunting, though the...

Hunting & Fishing Marlin 357 mag vs whitetail

My Marlin kill - Doe 75 yds, 158 RP JSP, Lil gun, 2050 mv, DRT, 357 can be deadly.

    260 barrel lenth

Shorter handles better, stiffer barrel - cannot hurt accuracy, longer less blast, tad more speed, gets blast further from your ears. Comp gun that does not get moved much, longer fine. Me, I want a faster handling rifle, and I never get that with much more than 22-23. My next build is likely...

    6.5x55 swedish vs .260

Just like the old 98 was well thought out, so too was the 55 and the '94/'96. Looking at pure performance, not just speed, the round is highly effective, efficient, very accurate, and reliable. Both rounds will reach more than 90% will shoot under 90% of the conditions when hunting.

Tell me about Remington 700 action

When you have a bolt handle fall off - like I did, you get ZERO Accuracy. Custom is a hedge against the 50/50 QC you get from Rem, if one wants to dump $$$ into a Rem, that's their choice, you still have a Rem. Funny I never hear of handles falling off, or half the crap QC that comes with...

Tell me about Remington 700 action

"When Properly BUILT" is key. Out the box, quality control has been 50/50 in my experience, broken bolt handle, bad crowns, poor finishing, poor accuracy, those were the bad ones...about half. If good, they are good, but I think other mfg. are better in design and overall quality control...

Looking for load data for thr 6.5X47L with 100 grain A-Max

The 123 at just 2850 matches in speed at 400, so has the edge in energy, but an amax will no doubt do the deed. Hope you find a great load.

Looking for load data for thr 6.5X47L with 100 grain A-Max

If me, I'd run 100s if shooting no more than 300 yds, the 123 would do better further out. If up close no problem, even 85 and 90s would do fine.

Hunting & Fishing 6br for deer

Killed many deer with a 6BR, one at 400 yds, used 70 TNTs, 105 Amax, 95 Ballistic Tip, yes they kill as well as a 243 and as far as most jobs need done.

Ideal caliber for 200-300 yard paper punching?

30BR better in the wind with what weight bullets at what velocity? I understand folks shoot very slow twist and light bullets. I would put up a well built 6BR against a 30 all day.

Ideal caliber for 200-300 yard paper punching?

Northman +1 Never liked the 223 as my 222 and 221 always outshot them, and 6BR. I would do a 223 in a quality rifle simply for economic reasons of brass, bullets, and it might do better at the 300 yd line than the slower 222/221. If building I would fast twist for heavy bullets for wind...

Advice for a new long range hunting rifle build

Owned many 270s, great round, common ammo, and can handload to great potential. What one can do with a 280, I cannot see NOT doing with a 270, just a few more clicks, perhaps. I'd run 150 Ballistic Tips and the new Long Range AB. Nothing wrong with 140 BTs or ABs. I Always HAD BETTER...
