    .223 AI Gunsmith Recommendations

All of the above are good recommendations, but I would HIGHLY recommend Aaron Roberts at Roberts Precision Rifles (Roberts Precision Rifles - Aaron Roberts Houston Texas Riflesmith Gunsmith). He just re-chambered my 223 to a 223ai, and he did one hell of a job, as usual. Quick turnaround, the...

    223 and barrel twist

8 twist is fine for 80's. I put 5k+ of 82 Bergers on my Brux 6.5 twist, and the new barrel is 7 twist, just because. I'd have had no problems substituting an 8 twist instead...

RO Bushnell Brawl, Thank You Sponsors

No question, Jacob and Lisa set the bar for the most challenging match that I have ever been lucky enough to participate in. It was a great time, I learned plenty (as I always do at Rifles Only) and the crew of folks at Rifles Only, led by Jacob and Lisa, continue to make me a better shooter...

    Gunsmithing Roberts Precision Rifles

I've had a few rifles that Aaron built for me, and every single rifle has exceeded my expectations, and then some. The communication throughout the build process is the icing on the cake. The thank you cards, which are surely from his wife :-), willingness to answer load development questions...

    Terrapin.... will be..

I agree. I ordered my Terrapin from PRG about a year and a half ago, and it was one of the smoothest transactions I've ever had. Sorry to hear of the change.

Anyone got a ford raptor how ya like it.

I had a 2012, and put 40k miles on it in about 13 months. It was the best truck I have ever had, and it got me out of many pickles in the field, at Rifles Only (where I almost flipped it with a cabful of green berets and a secret service guy...the pucker factor was high), at the beach. The fuel...

Precision Rifle Gear The Pros Use - NEW DATA PUBLISHED

There is no average distance. Each match is unique to the target size and distance, but you should be prepared to shoot from 10 yards to 1100 yards. Most points are inside of 800.

    Anyone have a Prometheus II???

No need to clean it after use, nor do you need to calibrate. I spot check my rounds on a Scott Parker tuned balance scale to ensure that everything is kosher, and have never had to re-adjust anything. I have close to 5k of .223 and 8208, with no adjustments necessary. The only downside is that...

    Anyone have a Prometheus II???

Next to my Giraud Trimmer, my Prometheus was the best money I've ever spent on reloading. I work quite a bit, and have two very young kids, so time is always what I have the least of. In time savings alone, the Prometheus paid for itself in just under 6 months. I also shoot matches when I can...

    SH recommended gunsmiths

Without hesitation, the best experience that I have had with a gunsmith has been Aaron Roberts, at Roberts Precision Rifles in Spring, TX. He apprenticed under Clay Spencer, his machine work is the best that I have seen, and he turnaround is second to no one. He and his wife run very efficient...

OCW test results opinions needed UpDated

I've never been a fan of VLD bullets, and I think you'll finder better groups with a more traditional bullet from Berger (80.5 fullbore/82 berger) or Hornady (80 amax). The benefit is that it's easier, in my experience, to keep bullets in tune...and they have similar, if not better BC in 223...

    Loading 223 using 8208

I run 24.4 grains of 8208 and shoot 82 bergers at 2900-2910. I am on my 4th loading of Lake City 223 brass, and the gun still bugholes with 3500+ rounds on the barrel. Edited to add: Let me qualify the above by saying that I worked this load up, it's in a bolt gun, and I have the bullets...

    Gunsmithing AI 223 Magazine delima

I have 6, 3 of them have seen competition this past year and have +/- 5000 rounds between. All of mine have been flawless outside of extremely dusty environments in new mexico, but I saw plenty of mags choke at that match.

    Copper Creek Ammo

All - I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Josh at Copper Creek Ammunition, and this guy is among the best there is. Truly helpful with a loading question that I needed to solve, and I am here to tell you that all of my factory ammo is coming from his company from here on out. I've also...

For you guys/gals that shoot the Hornady 105 HPBTs.

Apologies for the Necropost, but I am curious if anyone has a straight answer on true G1/G7's for this particular bullet? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a 6mm Creedmor, and am very interested in this bullet.

    Best powder for 80gr 223 in 1-8 twist 24"

I shoot pointed 82 bergers. I've tried a lot of powders: Varget, TAC, H4895, RL15, and finally 8208xbr. Varget was excellent, but too bulky and a little slow. TAC meters like water, and has excellent velocity, but is more temperature sensitive than I would like. H4895..ain't nothing wrong...

    Tikka Builders?

Aaron roberts (Roberts Precision Rifles - Aaron Roberts Houston Texas Riflesmith Gunsmith) had mine completed in 3-4 weeks, inclusive of inletting a stock and bedding the action. He built a T3 Tactical into a 6.5x47L.

Gunsmithing Gunsmiths Who Have Worked On Tikka T3 Actions

I had my Tikka T3 Tactical turned into a 6.5x47, and the only thing my gunsmith had to do with the action was lap the lugs a bit as it was otherwise really true. The threads were standard. I will tell you that the action is good to go, but their bolt stop mechanism is fairly flimsy....that is...

Light Recoil Bolt Rifle for the Wife

If you reload (even if you don't), a 223 is the perfect deer gun in North America, assuming your state allows it.
