    Benefits of stainless vs carbon steel

    I buy cm actions for two reasons. First I think they are smoother to operate. Stainless is stickier than cm by far. Another reason I like cm is because I once stuck a as barrel in a as action. What a disaster. Stainless has its place but not on a rifle. That's my opinion anyway. Lee

    the bumps are called borden bumps. they are there for a reason. the trigger sounds like it needs more sear pressure. sounds pretty simple. lee

    Older Remington 700 actions

    there not any better, other than the j-lok crap remington had out on the newer actions. only other thing i can think of is that the older actions had better finishes or blueing. the new sps have a cheaper finish. even with that said i see no real differece. some might make a trigger argument...

    just because the bolt stop is farther back on the so called long action, that doesnt mean you have to run the bolt all the way back every time does it?? i dont know?? i would leave it as is and shoot it!! lee
