    advantage of extended gas length?

My .02 is that on a 20" tube you can make rifle gas work in a 6.5 variant if that's easier to find at the moment. Any longer I would really want a +2. My +2 .260 tube is a 23.5 so right in between what you're looking at. Craddock Precision did my +2 and it's been great. JP used to have some +2...

    advantage of extended gas length?

I'm not the expert either but it has to do with gas port pressure. In 308 if you're using 147 grain bullets and a fast-medium burning powder for 308 then rifle length is fine. My 308 is using 175 and 185's and I had to use an adjustable gas block and add some weight to the carrier to keep...

Advice on new AR-10, learning precision shooting

As a lover of large frame AR's I'm just going to say this. Please DON'T get one for your first foray into distance shooting. Long distance is so much more than just a platform. It's knowing your ammo, dope, known repeatable zero, how density altitude and environmentals factor in, wind reading...

Whats your tuning process for BOTH a JP buffer & adj gas block?

My opinion is that the agb and buffer are related but for the most part do different things. Buffer (and total carrier mass) relate more to timing, recoil impulse and force to strip a new round. Agb is simply force directed to the carrier. For the most part you can use normal buffer weight and...

Member Link Up Long Range Shooting in Michigan

MTC in Lake City is also a good group of guys with open memberships. Washtenaw Sportsmen's Club in Ypsilanti has a range that goes to 600 with pit service but it's a pain to get to be a member as you need a sponsor. If you decide to go that route just PM me. Always looking for new shooting pals.

    Anyone else feeling beat down?

You're not alone. My wife and I work at a very liberal federal job(s). When we were in the office before covid all the water cooler talk was Trump this, Trump that, obviously not in a good way. Some days it got so bad I just had to go take a walk. I'm assuming at some point we will have...

Is it wrong to get excited about finding components?

So ended up finding 2k of Berry's plated 115's for my newfound interest in my STI. Have a pretty decent stock of shtf stuff but nothing I wanted to waste on practice. I was happy for a moment but I'll be honest. After three elections and midterms etc, I'm just feeling like this is getting old...

So not a conspiracy guy but....

So I needed to run some errands today and wanted to pick up some grease and dump our trailer. I had Google maps on while traveling and at one point my phone rebooted. Didn't think anything of it but when everything came back on it thought my location was by New London, Va? Just thought that was...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns What 2011?

I haven't had any experience with the new STI stuff but my 2011 Hextac has been pretty solid and they have improved since then. One pistol that I loved before I got into 2011's was a USP expert in 9mm. Absolutely a tack driver and never had a malfunction. Trigger was actually pretty nice in SA...

Recommended prep for first PRS match.

I did PRS hardcore for a few years, jersey the whole bit. I'd argue that most of the people here that are thinking of a match are plenty capable of hitting a 2-3 moa target with decent support and unlimited time. It's seems more stages get bombed shooting targets out of order, wrong dope on...

Recommended prep for first PRS match.

PRS to me seems 75% mental and the other 25% shooting ability. Focus on the course of fire, where the targets are and in what order to shoot them. Prior to your time at bat run and rerun the stage in your head over so that you know what you are going to do. Start slow and focus on hits, speed...

Buying a high $$$ gun on SH - need advice please

I'll x100 on the phone calls and a conversation. Normally you can tell a lot in just the first few minutes. One thing too is you can ask for shooting community references. This is a pretty small group of guys and I've been surprised who knows who or has at least bought something from someone who...

Picking a Barrel for a PRS Capable AR-10 in 6.5 CM

I have two uppers for my mega maten, one is a Krieger 20" in 308 with rifle gas and the other is a Craddock bartlein 22.5" with +2 gas in 260. Both shoot good. I have more time on the krieger so load/groups are marginally better but the bartlein shows promise with the 130's. 140's weren't as...

    JP Enterprises Silent Captured Springs?

One thing I like is that you can swap the weights around pretty easy and along with an adjustable gas block you can really fine tune things if you are going suppressed. As mentioned before a little grease helps in the stock setup but you don't have the adjustability.

    Shits just not letting up...

I'm so sorry. I can relate. I lost my cattle dog boy this last August and our female passed a few months ago. They were both a few months shy of their 16th birthdays. House still isn't the same and I miss them greatly and cry when the wife isn't around. I have their ashes and intend to be...

Rifle Scopes Unimount for bolt gun/gas gun swapping?

+1 on the Badger 22 moa riser. I have one on each of my AR10 uppers and I can swap either the Bender or the Premier with .885 height rings between the gassers and the bolt gun. Height on the riser is .43 so the total works well on a precision gasser. RTZ is pretty good too.
