I have some mediocre scopes on a couple of my guns and a couple of higher end scopes on others. They sit in rings currently.

I’m thinking of going to a unimount that I could easily move from bolt gun to AR or vise versa. Recommendations for a unimount to do this with?

spuhr, MPA, MDT, etc, etc?

Badger unimounts are hard to pass up.
Same for nightforce.

Prices are good and they are solid, easy to remove.

Bigger problem will be getting the eye relief and height to match well with a bolt gun & AR.

the height is what I was worried about most... getting it high enough for AR without being a pain on the bolt gun.

not sure if a cantilever Mount would be able to get the ocular lens back far enough on a bolt gun.

I guess I’d rather sacrifice eye relief on the AR since my bolt guns have fixed stocks and my AR is adjustable

The 22 MOA badger riser may be able to allow for you to use a standard mount, get some height on the AR and eye relief. Also, will match the likely 20moa base on your bolt gun to make your zeros closer.

I considered this same situation in the past, but the eye relief was still too far off for me.

that badger riser might be the ticket if I can get the eye relief right. I might have to mock something up and see if I think it would work before buying a new mount and that riser.

Badger, Seekins, Nightforce are all good options and can be had under $250.

One that gets a lot of praise but I personally would stay away from is the Warne Xskel mounts. They can be tempting at their price point and while I've never had one fail or slip, I just don't like how they appear to use top ring "flex" to hold the scope. For example using a Seekins mount the scope sits cleanly and easily in the bottom rings and the top rings fit snug but evenly. With my 2 xSkel mounts they fit pretty well into the bottom rings, but the top rings are definitely tight where they meet the lower half, but with gaps at the top of the split rings. These gaps tend to close as you reach the max torque but to me it just doesn't seem good for the rings not to evenly hold the scope tube. They also seem to have less gap at the rearward screw per ring than the front consistently at the same torque. Mine also leave removable but uneven ring marks on the tube which says to me they are not holding it evenly and cleanly around its circumference.

+1 on the Badger 22 moa riser. I have one on each of my AR10 uppers and I can swap either the Bender or the Premier with .885 height rings between the gassers and the bolt gun. Height on the riser is .43 so the total works well on a precision gasser. RTZ is pretty good too.

I tried this but it ended up being more work than it was worth.

Reason being...all my bolt guns have a 20 moa base. All my gas guns are flat tops.

So I went with 20moa unimounts for my gas guns...and 0moa mounts or just rings for my bolt guns

I had thought of that but in my situation it doesn’t really bother me because I don’t shoot my gas gun far enough to need 20 MOA built in. If I ever had a large dream AR I was wanting to shoot to beyond 1000 with I’d probably do what you mentioned.
