    Kestrel 4500 help

I use the Magneto Speed to get my MV when developing a new load. That gives me a number to put into a ballistics calculator, that gets me close. After that, I shoot on paper at 900 yards (it's what I have available) and adjust elevation until POI is correct. I then go back and change the MV...

    Range Finder

Look at the Swarovski 10x42 EL Range Bino's. They are awesome!!!! Rated for 1500 yards, but I have gotten middle of the day readings of 2K plus on trees. If you hunt, they kill two birds with one stone.

Rifle Scopes Scope Requirements, long Range Shooting

You can't beat good optics. Go to your local ranges and talk with shooters about what they are using. Most will probably offer you a look thru theirs. Get am idea of what you like in the real world rather than holding one to your eye in a store. Me, I have six NF's (smallest is 5.5-22x50)...

When using these dies, do you use them with or without the expander ball? I have heard both ways, but would like some opinions. Thanks, Jim

When Working Up a New Load.... (Varying Powder Charges)

I say with smaller calibers (223/308) once you get close, check both ways in .01gr increments. At that point, I don't trust shooting at 100 yards. 200 yards at least.

Rifle Scopes Where to set zero stop?

If you don't zero your rifle at 100 yards, you need to allow room "under" your zero to be able to engage down to 100 yards.

    16" DPMS LR 308 Bullet?

I am wondering if you have developed your load on the "low node" for your barrel. Most barrels have a low node and a high node. I shoot a lot of 155 A-max's and my powder charge is much higher than what you are showing.

    300 Blackout Primers

Dealing with subsonic loads, has anybody done any testing on primers with 300 BLK loads? I've been using Rem 7 1/2's because that's what comes in the brass. Going to start reloading fire-formed brass. Just wondering if anybody has taken their developed load and tried it with other primers to...

    annealing question

Because I sonic clean, I anneal before I clean, just so I don't have to dry twice. I anneal after every 2nd firing, for both 208 and 338.

    Opinions On These Chrono Numbers?

It's been my experience that the 300gr SMK likes some jump. I have found .030 - .050 to be the window that works for me. How many reloads on your brass? Have you annealed your brass?

    Case trimming question

I trim to book max length. That way I know my cases are all consistent and so is the amount of neck contacting each bullet. I anneal after every 2nd firing.

    69gr. matchkings @ imr 8208?

Compared to Varget, I got more speed with 1/2 grain less powder, using 77gr Nos CC's. Accuracy was not affected. I have shot it out to 1K.

    Rl-33

I'm sorry this is not about RL-33, but reading thru this thread made me take note of the MV that people are getting with RL-33. I use 91gr of RL-25 with 300gr SMK's thru a 30" tube and get 2951fps. Gun shoots 1/2moa and I have shot it out to 1900 yards.
