Best custom action for new build?

I have a Tempest. It's a very slow, janky action. Feed from the mags is very unreliable, so I only single feed. The AW mag seems to ve a very bad design, at least with this action. The follower has no anti-tilt, so it flips forward often. AICS is far superior.

    Rifle Scopes EuroOptic Sale

The glass is very blurry and dark on mine. The cheap SWFA 10x is noticeably better. I wouldn't recommend it. The illumination is too weak to see in anything but total darkness. I think they were pimped far too hard.

    MDT .223/5.56 magazines

Seconded. Rounds in the mag are more likely to flip forward than feed.

The fate of the Remington 700 in 2017

Central Arizona. I know one smith now that will work on something other than a 700. The rest only do 700s. Been looking for years, and calling guys whose numbers I get via word-of-mouth. My friend with a Tikka can't find anybody, and I can't for my CZ. I was able to find one guy that'll do...

Fudds just figured out that 6.5 mms are better........

Gonna have to give fudds a win on this one. They were using 6mm and 6.5mm since the 70s while us dummies were still using 308s because "the military uses it". Let's mock them on accuracy and firing 2 shots a year and such.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 3-15x44 VS. Steiner T5Xi 3-15x50

All PSTs have to go back. By default, they don't work. The difference is Vortex will fix them and eventually you get a working, low quality scope. Better than the alternative I've bitched about enough times to roll everyone's eyes.

The fate of the Remington 700 in 2017

Most gunsmiths refuse to work on anything but a 700. So yeah, there's a reason they still exist. It's a stupid reason, but it's there.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 3-15x44 VS. Steiner T5Xi 3-15x50

Viper, easily. Dumped my T5Xi for a 1st Gen Razor. The Razor was $1,300, and the Steiner was about $1,000. The Steiner has the worst turrets in the industry and customer service to match.

    GAP Tempest

Mine is in 6.5x47, which is a shoot-all-day cartridge. It's the most accurate rifle I've ever touched. The chassis fits me perfect, as most or all do. I've got her all painted up pretty. It seems to have all its ducks in a row to be my favorite, but that action has me reaching for other...

    GAP Tempest

I'd avoid it. It's way too much money for something that pisses me off every time I use it. You're going to end up with a $3,000+ rifle that you hate. Explore other options.

    Light primer strikes w/GAP Tempest

My Tempest has light strikes, rim lock, and is as unsmoothe as a mosin nagant in cosmoline. However, it seems GA can turn barrels like gods, so my Tempest is incredibly accurate. But, it is destined for permanent benchrest shooting, as no action on Earth is rougher or slower. They're...

    Rifle Scopes Fixed power scope

You might be disappointed going from a fixed power to a variable, but I find them both valuable. You're going to find variables blurry compared to fixed. For example, I have a couple SWFA 10x42 scopes that cost me around $300. Their clarity is far better than the $900+ Vortex Viper PST models...

Rifle Scopes New to long range.. asking for scope help & opinions.

Lighten up, Francis. If it helps, I apologize for all the terrible things I said about your mother in my previous post. I really went over the line. I fully understand why you're so defensive. I was referring to the increments. I can pick up 50 or so mil based reticle scopes and instantly...

Rifle Scopes New to long range.. asking for scope help & opinions.

Mil reticles are standardized. Use mil turrets to match. Most people go mil. Go mil to increase chances of being able to work with your potential spotters. No need to go MOA to match guys with fixed parallax 3-9s.

    223 version of the RPR

I had never heard of bushing pin holes. Does ruger do this? I'm assuming you guys mean having a gunsmith do it.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 vs 4.5-27x56 gen I vs II Long Range

I like the Gen 1 as much as another scope I have that cost more than twice as much. It's great. I know worse scopes with better reputations.

Rifle Scopes NF SHV F1 so far

A friend has one and I use it often enough. Eye relief is pretty short. Very noticeably shorter than a Razor 1. It is long enough for a lighter hunting rifle and forgiving as well, so it is not a problem. I'd say it is a great scope, but not a top tier scope. It's better than what it costs...

Of the ones I've used, a Win 70. Haven't used a Mausingfield though. One day.

    223 version of the RPR

I appreciate it. It's something I've never seen before. It probably isn't important at all, but I will keep an eye on it. She shoots junk ammo very nicely. Sub MOA by a longshot. I am very pleased. This caliber benefits from the 4 mags they've given me. Each one already has over 100...
