so I’ve finally had some range and match time behind out to 800 yards on my 18” Gas gun to form an opinion so far.

Glass quality is great for the price point.

mechanically it tracks 100% and returns to zero perfectly

my only problems with it so far is the retical, maybe I just need some more time with it. But shooting under time constraints in a match with shifting winds it’s alot more work with my hold overs with the retical layout. I will likely move it over to my dedicated hunting rifle in favor of something comparable to a standard gen ll mildly retical or mil scale gap retical.

Yeah, NF is in DIRE need of a good, illuminated Christmas tree-style reticle option, IMO. The Tremor 3 is just too busy for my taste. They're just too convenient for a top-notch manufacturer like NF to not feature...

you think the MIL-C in that scope would do the trick? i really dig the .2 breakdown of it.

Isn't that like saying I will loan my right hand my toothbrush from my left hand.......

No.
While common ownership between 2 separate companies with separate financials does smooth things out when doing intra-corporate dealings, they are still bound by the in-effect agreements prior to the 7/2016 acquisition of Horus. What new deals/agreements get made will, I am sure, need to pass FTC review for market monopolization.

That may sound good on paper, but I don’t believe the head ramrod at NF can just do what’s best for NF and act like a totally separate company from Horus Reticle. If so they would have already came out with their own Christmas tree type reticle. These are just my suspicions and opinions.

Uuuggghhh yes! That’s been my gripe for years about NF.
I wish they had a more imaginative retical selection in certain models but I’ve used them off and on for years and I still miss my NF 3.5-15 F1. They are as sound mechanicly as you could ever need them to be. I think if they would putt out a good retical like the gen ll XR Christmas tree retical like what was in the premiere scopes it would be great.

I forgot to mention im using the MIL-R retical in mine. Yeas I
Yeah I know it wasn’t designed for match shooting necessarily but it’s just not intuitive to my eyes enough for lack of a better word I guess

As for the athlon chronus my close friend is a dealer for them so I could go that rout but it would be a bit over kill on my rig maybe? I run a Gen l KAC LPR with an ops inc 16th model suppressor. Fuckin love that gun! What I really want to do is get my hands on a Kahles 312i with the AMR retical to match the K624i on my 6.5 creed but I keep missing them when one pops up

Did you have any issues with eye relief? Im currently looking for a scope for my 6.5 creedmoor. Im between the shv 4-14x50 f1 and the 4-14x56 sfp. I looked through both at Bass pro and had a hard time with the f1 but thinking it might be due to it not actually being mounted on a gun.

No trouble at all with eye relief in fact I left that out of my brief assessment, I think it has great eye relief actually.

You wouldn't think so from the SHV F1 spec sheet.

Yesh I don’t know what the spec sheet says bout it but I’ve been running it in matches under stress and on the line just gathering load data and at no point have I had any thought come to me about being displeased with eye relief....... spec sheets can say what they want but with optics in my experience you just have to get behind it on a rifle and see how it feels to you personally.

I've run mine since last September on my .308 match rifle. It's seen probably 3000+ rounds. I must've shot almost a dozen matches with it, have made shots past 1200 and shoot it to just shy of 1000 a couple times a week. I'll echo what everyone else has said. Good glass, rock solid tracking and return to zero and is tough and has held up super well. My beefs are also the same, the Mil-R reticle isn't ideal, by a long shot, and neither are 5 mil turrets. I also felt that a bit more mag was needed for some stages like the real small targets on kyl racks and am not a big fan of capped windage, which I find annoying on mover stages. That's why I just purchased a Bushy HDMR 2. I'll see how they stack up. I really do wish that NF would make a SHV F1 with 10 mil turrets and at least their Mil-C reticle if not a Horus as I don't see myself dropping the cash necessary for an ATACR...

100% agree with you on everything. They have a great scope for the price point still but if they would add a more intuative Christmas tree reticle with a better hash Mark arrangement...... it would be untouchable at its cost, add 10 mil turrets even better.

Agreed but they have to draw the line somewhere, otherwise they ll start undercutting their flagships.

A friend has one and I use it often enough. Eye relief is pretty short. Very noticeably shorter than a Razor 1. It is long enough for a lighter hunting rifle and forgiving as well, so it is not a problem.

I'd say it is a great scope, but not a top tier scope. It's better than what it costs, for sure. 8/10 overall, 10/10 for its price.
