    Attention Vortex!!!!

Physics, unfortunately. With just passive optical elements (lenses, mirrors, prisms, etc.), you can't get high magnification AND wide field of view AND long eye relief; there's a tradeoff among those characteristics, and for a spotting scope, magnification and field of view win out over eye relief.

What is Your Method for Measuring Scope Height?

This is something you can discover on your own by just entering different heights and comparing the results. For example, jbmballistics.com gives these elevation numbers for 1.5" and 2.0" scope height (Hornady 143gr ELD-X, 2650fps): Range 1.5" 2.0" (yd) (mil) (mil) 100...

    Which rifle rest for backpack...

If your pack is covered in PALS webbing, you could just buy two small pouches and place them exactly where you need for your forend/bipod width. And actually, you probably don't need two -- if your pack is shaped like mine it'll be easy to orient it to form a one-size-fits-all V with just one...

What do you use to Transport ammo at a Match?

I'm surprised that only one person has mentioned @softcock's ammo binders. Everyone's got their own needs and their own quirks, so maybe other solutions work better for some people. But for me personally, 1) I don't like hearing my ammo rattling around, 2) I like being able to tell at a glance...

2 lug vs 3 lug action bolt lift

    A three-lug doesn't have to require less bolt rotation than a two-lug. Tikka's two-lug T3x action, for example, has a shorter throw (70 degrees) than ARC's three-lug Nucleus action (72 degrees).

Sidearms & Scatterguns Where are the FiveseveN mags?

They show up in batches. Months will go by with none in stock anywhere, then everyone will suddenly have them. For a day or two, anyway, until they sell out again. Best way to get them is to click MGW's "Notify Me When Available" button. Unlike some other retailers, they actually will notify...

Should you keep the origonal boxes for your gear?

Depends on how much you have and what you want to spend. Fishing tackle boxes are good for small numbers of small parts, and specialized storage is available for larger collections. Some examples...

Should you keep the origonal boxes for your gear?

I keep the box and everything else until I know that I'm not going to immediately return the item. Then I keep the box if I might resell the item -- but only so long as the item remains in new or almost-new condition. "Like New In Box" is a thing. "Beat To Shit But The Box Is Still Nice" isn't.

Gunsmithing SERIOUS question for the gunsmith

Maybe. But insurance agents and brokers are licensed by the state and can lose those licenses if they don't deal honestly with their clients. And besides, what choice does the OP have? The insurers are the only people who have the information he wants. Plus, at some point you do just have...

Gunsmithing SERIOUS question for the gunsmith

You don't need to ask gunsmiths -- you wouldn't get a statistically useful set of responses anyway. Ask your insurer instead; they for sure know how often gunsmiths get sued and how those suits tend to resolve.

Rifle Scopes Spuhr ISMS with Vortex Razor HD Gen II?

Once you have the mount and scope in hand, you'll see that you can still do it. Just have to turn the parallax and windage knobs so the knurling doesn't interfere with the leveling tool.

    I.O.T.A (Indoor Optical Training Aid)

It needs exactly as much clearance as a Butler Creek cap. I don't have a DFAT, but from what I can see on the DST website it's identical to the IOTA. It's a really cool training aid whose developer deserves to be rewarded; I wish I knew whether DST is distributing the same product with a...
