Gunsmithing Looking at action truing fixtures for chambering work? Which one?

Wasnt the OP asking about chambering barrels, not truing actions? While I agree, and personally use the roscoe style for action truing, it can't be used for chambering unless you make a bushing for every contour barrel. The old style action jig is also not ideal for chambering, but if you...

Gunsmithing Anyone have experience with Mitsubishi D720 series vfd setup?

To me a safety stop circuit would shut the drive down, and not turn immediately back down until you reset it. I may be able to use something that was originally wired in the lathe to make it work. Obviously there had to be some relay that, when the foot brake was actuated, would open and not...

Gunsmithing Anyone have experience with Mitsubishi D720 series vfd setup?

Well got it running today. My retarded assumption that I could just plug the thing in and have 3 phase power going to the lathe and it would work just as if it had true 3 phase service was way wrong. Ended up wiring all the lathe controls into the vfd now it works like a charm. The wiring is...

Gunsmithing Anyone have experience with Mitsubishi D720 series vfd setup?

Having trouble getting this thing working on my new lathe. Colchester 3hp. The vfd is the model designed for single phase in. My input voltage is 240 line to line. I've gotten it to turn on and at first it was cranking out 280v on each of the 3 legs. I turned down the motor voltage parameter...

Gunsmithing Lathe that can machine a 16" barrel in the headstock?

Dont make your decision based on that, I dont think you will find one anyway, but just make an extension that you can torque onto the chamber end. I do that regularly for threading short barrels, works just fine.

Not sure where bowling green is but I have one, can't send it out though as I need it when I finish coating the upper, but I'm just off us24 about 45 minutes or so from state line in Ohio, if you want to use it at my shop. Galaxy S3 on tapatalk

6.5CM, Issues with 140 AMAX in 8 Twist Edit: Bad Lot of AMAX

I sent them 19 full boxes, 2 partial, and 3 empty. They are replacing all 24 boxes once they have another production run. They "said" warranty orders take precedence over all retail orders so hopefully that's true. I had a bad lot of 130 vld Berger at the same time go back. Sent 8 full and 2...

    Rifle Scopes Lightest 1-6x?

Kahles 16i look no further. 16.9oz, not sure if its the lightest, but you wont find one with better optics and field of view. Also have some pretty sweet reticles.

    Gunsmithing 300wm chambering issue.

I was going to ask the same thing. Try getting a Go gauge first before you get all crazy pulling the barrel off, if it chambers then you may not be sizing the brass far enough. Fill out your profile, maybe there is someone near you that you can drop by and see if it will close on a go gauge.

    Gunsmithing Remmy 700 LA Warped

Who the hell is this guy? That doesnt even make any sense. Unless he means the front ring is twisted in relation to the rear bridge, and in that case he effed up removing the barrel. If the bolt cycled prior to him getting it, it didnt come from Remington that way. Get it back from him, see...

    Gunsmithing Grizzly G0509G

I was just saying a few people are recommending the 3hp VFD but it will not work for him. That AC Tech looks interesting, but correct me if Im wrong, I dont see a 5hp single phase in? Or are you saying they told you it wasnt required to derate the 3ph in 5hp?

    Gunsmithing Grizzly G0509G

You guys with 3hp and less motors dont forget you are in a totally different league. 3hp is as big as the inexpensive Hitachi VFD that is DESIGNED for what we are all trying to do here, take single phase in and make 3 phase out of it. All other drives are designed to have 3 phase coming in...

Forget the grizzle rotary, look on Ebay at the American Rotary converters if you are going to go Rotary. You can get a 10 or 15hp for it for far less than the $2k I saw above.

Gunsmithing New manufacture Clausing Colchester thoughts

Thats pretty much exactly what they told me, that production was in China for a short period of time but quality was not good so they moved it to Taiwan. I am completely content with it being produced in Taiwan as thats basically the best place you can have a machine made now that is still in...

    Gunsmithing Grizzly G0509G

I don't believe there are any big enough that are designed exclusively for single phase in. Which means you'll need to derate a normal 3ph in drive. Find the motor amperage and double it for the drive rating. Call vfds.com they have been helping me out, are very good to talk to. Galaxy S3 on...
