    Lets be honest..

I don't think a custom 700 is that much cheaper. Consider the cost of a base rifle, chassis (or stock with bedding), new barrel, trigger, blueprinting and other "labor". If you go with a high-end action, which I feel is more comparable to something like a TRG or AI, the price difference is even...

Is going to .50bmg worth it?

I'd love to shoot one someday. But as far as owning goes, I'd go for the .338lm first Of course if you already have everything else, and still have money left over, you should buy whatever you want.

How many people change the barrel back and forth on an AI

I plan on swapping the barrel for longer range stuff. We have competitions which are .308 and .223 only, or you will be competing against benchrest rifles. Currently only have the 20" .308 barrel on my AI, but want to buy a .260 barrel for when I'm shooting past say 600m. If you plan of...

    Good Caliber To Start With?

Some numbers on theoretical accurate barrel life, using a calculator I once downloaded, think it was from accurateshooter.com For hunting, you could probably stretch the required accuracy a bit. 6,5mm: 6.5x47 lapua, barrel life around 4000 rounds, but probably more of a target load than what...

    Good Caliber To Start With?

If you want long action, also consider 6.5x55 Swede. Not sure on pricing in the US, but here it is cheaper to shoot than 30-06 (if you handload and factor in barrel life) Performance wise, they're pretty close.

    AI AW or AI AX?

In a previous thread Tom mentioned 2014 for a 300wm AX. I'm looking forward to one as well. Sadly, I can't own a 338. Actually, it was your thread: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-bolt-action-rifles/184840-ai-awm-300-win-mag.html

    Help... New long action build.

I'm wanting to build a 300wm and shoot 210gr bergers. Close enough to 338 performance at still acceptable cost

    .260 build

I've read the 300wm aics mags work, but you may need to do some work on the feed lips. As for the generally light loads for the 6.5x55, this is because the loads are intended for acceptable pressures in the Carl Gustav M96 and other ~100 year old rifles. In modern rifles you can go quite a bit...

    .260 build

Yes, but not sure about which magazines work best.

    .260 build

I'd go for 6.5x55 as well with a long action. For my next build, I'm actually considering a switch barrel/bolt gun with 300wm and 6.5x55, and also get a 6.5x47 barrel for my .308.

    AI AW or AI AX?

I have heard they might even discontinue it. tomirwin on this board might have some info for you, if he wants to share it that is. Between the two, the stock would be the biggest difference. If you like both stocks, I'd get the AX. It has more features, and is more "modern". Personally, I just...

    AI AW or AI AX?

Where is the large price difference between the AX in 308 and 260 coming from? You could just get the 308 AND a spare 260 barrel for less.

Ready to order AI AE MKIII 308

I shot 50 rounds total and have some copper in there as well. Won't bother cleaning until accuracy drops. This is my first centerfire rifle though, so can't compare it to anything.

Should I be content or disappointed with these groups???

You're right, but still, trued action, good barrel, bedding, aftermarket trigger. Should come pretty darn close. I also would expect at least(/most) 0,5" groups, consistently with the right load.

Should I be content or disappointed with these groups???

I shot my AI AE for the first time last weekend. Before that, my experience with centerfire rifles is somewhere between 10 and 50 bullets. My largest group was 0,75" at 100m, best <0,25". So no, I would not be happy with this.

Gun sock for a tactical rifle

seems like the triad one is the ticket. "-RIFLE CONDOM will hold any weapon up to 49" overall length (Rem 700 SA with 28" barrel) and up to 13" tall (AR10/SR25 with large optic and 20 round magazine in place). "

    Accuracy gains with XLR Chassis

The only correct answer: it depends You might have something else than the current stock causing this level of accuracy. Might be mostly the barrel, might be mostly the the ammo. I'd try load development or different ammo before a new stock. Depending on what stock you have though. If it's a...

Ready to order AI AE MKIII 308

You can still adjust the cheek piece a bit. I finally received my AE as well, and have noticed the (seekins) mediums with my vortex viper pst are just a bit too low. Not much, but if I move my head up a fraction, i get scope shadow. The AI mount does seem even higher than "high" rings though.

Im looking for a 6.8mm bolt action, any ideas?

As is the 6.8 spc, they use the same bullets the .284 uses what we call 7mm bullets, but actually they are 7,21mm

AI AE / AW / AICS owners, which rear bag do you like?

I just shot my AI AE Mk3 for the very first time. I have some trouble with my home-made rear bag and the shape of the stock. It works perfectly for more traditional stocks, but due to the mostly flat surface of the AI AE, it doesn't work as well with that. Can't seem to be able to point it to my...
