    My father put an MCarbo spring in his 40 year old Winchester Model 70. With this simple mod, his trigger became one of the nicest ones I've felt. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade if the other factors in your trigger are OK (creep, over-travel etc.)

    Did you have to inlet the Choate stock to fit the PTG bottom metal or did it fit within the stock Savage inlet?

    Two separate .223 rifles with light primer strikes.

    My brother's 700 in .223 also experienced light primer strikes with certain primers. We replaced the firing pin spring with a 28lb spring from Wolff which resolved the issue.
