    It's not just moving the bipod further forward, it also positions the apex of the bipod closer to the bore. Both of those things make the whole arrangement more stable.

    If the top of the Manfrotto column or apex where the mounting screw is is wide enough, you can use the one on the RRS. The Hog Saddle tripod was just too narrow.
