    Is my crown ok?

Dude, after looking at that first picture and the group results....you need to get that crown touched up. Personally I would be embarrassed to send out a rifle with that kind of crown damage. Accuracy is suffering for sure. It may not be that obvious at 100 yards, but stretch it out and you...

Gunsmithing First Time barrel turning and Badger FTE install

Personally, I'd time the brake. Also, make sure you bore out the FTE before firing....you might not like the results otherwise! One more thing, dial in the barrel off the bore to make sure the bore is in-line with the centerline of the brake.

    Where do I stop

I build rifles for APO in .308 that are only done in 20". Barrel stiffness is increased and velocities from M118LR are right around 2650fps. All our rifles are sent out with a test target from THAT rifle. Our standard is sub half MOA and nothing leaves the shop until that accuracy is proven...

Gunsmithing Barrel Set Back Accuracy Change

How much was chopped off the original length? What is the caliber? What chamber was used the second time around? Was the crown re-surfaced? Was the barrel re-lapped?

Gunsmithing Breaking Radius on barrel tennon for recoil lug?

It all depends on the recoil lug or the receiver face with integral lug. If you get a surface ground aftermarket lug from PTG, it will be VERY sharp with no radius. That is when you should exaggerate the chamfer on the tenon. Using a .030 thousands width parting tool does a good job when you...

    Gunsmithing Quick "rebedding" question?

You don't NEED to dremel it ALL out. Definitely carve up the trouble spots make sure you scuff/sandpaper all surfaces and load it up again. Rule of thumb on the amount you need is to make sure you use enough to have epoxy oozing from every point of contact and do a good clean up job. Acetone...

    $1000 to upgrade rifle

Find out if any of these companies "single point" the receiver to true the threads. Or if the use a Mason "receiver truing" set. If you can find someone who single points and then also uses a GTR fixture to true the receiver, your getting the most for your money in truing. Then you have to...

    barrel break in?

Barrel break-in depends on the final lapping done by the barrel manufacturer. Each one is different....but that clean after each round for 5 shots, then clean after every 5 rounds for 25 shots, so on and so forth is a thing of the past.
