Rifle Scopes Scope slipping in rings

    Cool! I love loctite.

Rifle Scopes Scope slipping in rings

The mount was certified as in spec by the manufacturer. As noted earlier I believe I am in a tolerance stack situation and in such circumstances I always 1) make sure the potential buyer knows the story, and 2) give them a great deal. Other than that you can (I am going to stay civil, and have...

Rifle Scopes Scope slipping in rings

The mount in question had horizontal rings and was torqued to spec. I used to have one of the vertical Larues and as noted you do need to RTFM. Nothing was lapped. The mount maker specifically asked about that and was glad I hadn't. To tell the truth with modern stuff I would hesitate to...

Rifle Scopes Scope slipping in rings

Horizontal and I do believe I had mentioned there is a gap. if the the larue works out I may well sell the old mount as the maker says it meets spec, but I may try it on the next project and see if my working hypothesis of tolerance stacking is real or not.

I thought so. I am just glad I didn't damage anything!

Rifle Scopes Scope slipping in rings

Ordered rosin from Amazon per the link kindly shared earlier in the thread. I like the idea as if my tolerance stack plus fine surface finish hypothesis is true it might address that. The scope and rings are both high end. I have been done right by both over the years and don’t want this to...

Rifle Scopes Scope slipping in rings

Yes there is a gap. Yes, cnc will throw bad parts. I suspect tolerance stack combined with relatively fine surface finishes. Suspected because my own measuring tools are only good to a thousandth and the vendors won’t tell you shit. Not Spuhr. ;) Rosin on order, fogot to mention that I had...

Rifle Scopes Scope slipping in rings

Thanks for your inputs everyone. The rifle is a LMT MWS in .308 and yes I have cleaned the rings etc. before torquing with a Borka. Yes, short of sending the borka off to a cal lab... but at the mount maker's suggestion I took the torque scary high before I flinched. Rosin is a good...

Rifle Scopes Scope slipping in rings

I have had a terrible time with a scope slipping in rings. All properly torqued, etc. etc. scope and rings back to makers for test, both claim all is well. Won't name names as both are reputable. I just bought yet another set from another vendor. If this doesn't solve the problem I am tempted to...

    BCM SS410 barrels

I have had a 16" one for some years now. Sub MOA with my 77 SMK hand loads using IMR 4895. This load was developed to the fastest accuray node, not max velocity. Very happy with it and it shoots pretty similar to the Lothar Walther barrel in my old Larue 18" stealth upper. Sub MOA is more than...

Thank you gentlemen. Not an instagram person but will go look.

    The Fix from Q

Anybody see any accuracy reports yet? The net is very silent on these rifles, not that there would be much info, but a few of them at least are out in the wild. Thanks!

    LMT .308 MWS

I think these barrels like to be ‘dirty’ or shall we say seasoned? As noted many places a couple hundred rounds seem to be ticket. My experiments have me at wiping the chamber regularly with slip 725 and leaving the bore alone. When the round count gets high I have knocked the gunk out of the...

Which 308 gasser should I buy? Accuracy is a big factor on my selection.

Leaving lurk mode since this is a classic gas gun thread and I always enjoy them... The LMT seems to have scrolled off the discussion but one thing makes it stand out for me is that it is very reliably what it is. It just works in my experience having had one for some years now. Putting aside...

Steep angled AR grip for large hands

Check out the B5 type 23 grip, also offered by Umbrella Corp. Works a treat. My only wish is that it had a trap door so I can stuff batteries in there.

Colorado members, I need your help!

What is the name of this range? I live just north of Ft Carson and haven't heard of it before. Thanks!

Sidearms & Scatterguns 460 Rowland... Very Frustrating

Have you tried a jacketed bullet? When I played with the Rpwland in my Kimber years ago the Hornady XTP was golden. Whaching the 100 yd gong was a breeze.

    Range Report Velocity problem

OK. Went to the range after work. Howling wind (25-30 & gusting) so results purely qualitative, but the 2725 fps dope looks pretty good. Shot for shot hits despite being blown all over the place so.... Anyway, some time when it is calm and I am free I will shoot it for groups, but right now? I...

Should I be satisfied with 1 MOA in my new LMT 18" MWS?

This. My LMT is an honest .75-1 minute rifle and prefers 168s. It just keeps humming along and the only real sin is to decopper the bore. It took me a couple hundred rounds before it (or was it me?) broke in. As many have noted shooting the .308 ARs is a different game. Bottom line is it...
