    Most likely 6-48 if your rifle is a few years old. The 8-40 thing is relatively new for the 700P's. You could buy a Leupold Mark 4 base as it comes with both sized screws and the base will work with either size.

    The kits Tim sells are 5 plastic washers in different thicknesses. They aren't made for precise .01 Mil or MOA elevation increments. They're graduated for full (5 MIL) revolutions (very coarsely). There's a link to a video in the eBay listing I posted for you, it should explain the concept...

    Good question and honestly, I don't know. Not sure if LRI oversizes the threads when they blueprint the R700 actions. I don't have a stripped receiver to try to screw it in so if you have a way I can check for you just let me know.
