    Tuning an ar for accuracy

By just replacing the super crappy trigger I got in a Palmetto lower parts kit I was able to cut my group size in half. I went with the CMC because it was a good deal cheaper than what most of you guys spend on triggers. I just built another AR and have in it a DPMS lower parts kit and the...

Proper length for free float handguard

I'm building a 6.5 Grendel with Lilja's AR740 barrel and I'm having trouble deciding which handguard to get. The rifle will be fired mostly off a bipod from either a bench (paper), prone (paper and pdogs), or with shooting sticks for coyotes and deer. The gas system for that barrel is rifle...

Range Report Anyone shooting the 75 Amax TO 1000?

Are you guys all talking 223 Rem? Any input from folks with 22-250?

So hard to find reliable electronic scales.

Tell me if I'm crazy but this is how I do it on a $20 Frankford Arsenal: Turn scale on. Place empty pan on top, verify weight is 119.5gn (it's always 119.5gn, I can calibrate if it's not). Zero. Pour charge into pan, place on scale, get reading, trickle up to charge. Remove pan. If scale...

    Help with Tikka accuracy

Re: Help with Tikka accuracy For "mag length" stuff mine liked the Black Hills blue box 68gr HP. Will shoot in the .6 and .7's. I handloand so I put on the CDI bottom metal and now I can mag feed 75gr Amax which it loves. Haven't tried anything heavier yet as I'm happy with the 75gr.

    Forming 260Rem from 308Win

Re: Forming 260Rem from 308Win I've necked down .30-06 brass (both Winchester and Lapua) to .25-06 and I didn't have to turn any necks.

Range Report Persuade me: 25-06 vs 260 Rem

Re: Persuade me: 25-06 vs 260 Rem You're right RingingSteel. I should have said I'll be buying a used 700 in .308 for a 260 build or a 700 in a long action for a 25-06 build. For some reason I thought I had seen some .308's in long action but I can't find them now doing a quick search...

Range Report Persuade me: 25-06 vs 260 Rem

I'm going to build a heavy, tactical style pdog and target gun based on a factory Remington 700 action. I already have, and hand load for, a 25-06 in a light hunting rifle model. In my comparisons the 25-06 is ballistically superior when only considering drop (ignoring wind drift). So, if I'm...

    Hornady brass

Re: Hornady brass The weight variance from case to case on .223 is not as good as I would expect considering the small groups I'm able to shoot through a factory Savage.

    Gas leaking from primer pocket

Re: Gas leaking from primer pocket I've compared the once-fired cases to the unfired cases and, depending on the case, between 2 and 3 thousandths of difference in length of the shoulder measured using the Hornaday headspace system. I only neck-sized the new .30-06 brass because, after...

    Gas leaking from primer pocket

Been reading for a while, first post after I didn't find what I was looking for in the search feature. I went to the range for the first time with a factory new Sako A7 in .25-06. I tried three different loads, all with powder charges near the minimum in the Sierra manual. I am seeing burnt...
