Moved to Colorado from Cali time to enjoy the AR15

Yes Brother!!!! I moved from COMMIEFORNIA to TX recently and I literally removed my bullet button after I crossed the state line into TX. Then promptly assembled my spare parts kits...and never looked back! Congrats on the move, shooting will only get better, and more fun.

New to TX Looking for Precision Rifle Clubs/Matches

Just moved to Fort Worth from CA and I'm looking for any recommendations for precision rifle comps or clubs in north TX. I have some experience in F-class matches and I'm looking to learn new skills in the practical shooting area. I built a frankengun large frame AR chambered in 7.62 and and I...

New 308 build from scratch with 80% lower

A local machine shop in San Diego called TPM Machine/Arms is working out the kinks in their process and getting 80% 308 lowers on the drawing board but no production yet. They say a few months.

Carbine search: LMT Defender and/or comparable models?

LMT is top notch for sure. If you're not 100% set on going for a carbine length gas system, go for a midlength. This midlength BCM comes with a stronger, more heat resistant hand guard than the LMT defender and is built to the same or better quality standards. BCM Mid-16 AR15 Bravo Company...

LaRue now making their own barrels

Please see this article on barrel making. It explains the mfg diffs between cut and button rifling etc. from a technical standpoint (albeit for beginners) The Rifleman's Journal: Equipment: The Making of a Rifled Barrel Everyone has had great results with a variety of rifling methods. I think...

    Large Frame AR barrel length

Perfectly understandable. I shoot F/TR and some of that is bleeding into my thought process here - when it really shouldn't I think now. Mainly because I cringe when the poor .308 can't get to speed out of those short barrels and I see the 16s and 18s hit the berms and keyhole at Camp Pendleton...

    Large Frame AR barrel length

I haven't seen many large frame AR builds with barrels over 22 inches (GAP-10). If weight and portability aren't a concern for the shooter, would it be possible to run a 24-30 inch barrel, in a reasonable contour of course, on a large frame AR chambered in 308? Is there a design limitation to...

    LMT Bolt Carriers

Sorry wrong link. There's a great post out here somewhere where Bill Alexander talks about the enhanced BOLT. I'm just not finding it in forum search right now. Found the link it's from M4carbine: http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=3379

    LMT Bolt Carriers

There has been a lot of discussion this before. This thread is good one. Look for Bill Alexander's post. http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-semi-auto-rifles/113157-lmt-enhanced-bolt-carrier.html

    LMT Bolt Carriers

The LMT DI bcg can be used with any AR-15. The barrel extension and the barrel assembly are proprietary to LMT. The chamber is standard 556. I've never seen an LMT DI bcg with unstaked screws. LMT non-enhanced DI AR-15 bolt carriers have dry film lube on the inside not hard crome. The...

New AR-10 BCG cam pin stuck

Thanks everyone it makes sense. There's no gun yet, only the AR bcg, a stripped JD machine DMPS upper, a geissele SSA, and a vltor gfh mod 3charging handle so far. Nice to have perspective, usually 8541 is pretty accurate with his advice. He mentions filing the bcg if the cam pins stuck and says...

New AR-10 BCG cam pin stuck

Update: Good news is the screwdriver popped the cam pin out. Bad news is it's a gas rifle BCG. I wiped out the interior of the carrier and the outside of the bolt and made sure the gas rings where dry. Still, reassembled dry, The carrier slides right down over the bolt when standing on...

New AR-10 BCG cam pin stuck

Thanks again. The gas rings don't hold the BCG up when standing on end. The factory oil is still in place and the bolt hasn't been removed. Is this a problem?
