I see another thread about the Palma and didn't want to HJ his thread so is anyone out there shooting 155 gr Palma in a 1-10 twist with any luck? I've got a Criterion 24" bull barrel and am, after quite a bit of work, finding a decent load for the 175gr SMK but the best I'm getting is .5" groups. I've worked with the 178 gr Amax with similar results, actually a little larger, and like the BC of the 175 SMK but would like a little tighter group. I always thought a faster twist liked heavier bullets but I've talked to a few shooters that like the Palma but I don't know what twist they are shooting.
I'm shooting some local competition that shoots between 300-1400 yards and am afraid also of keeping the lighter bullet stable past 1000. Any experience with this? Thanks.

Re: 1-10 twist and 155 gr Palma

My Savage M10 shoots the SMK Palma (2156) the Nosler 155 CC the Berger Fullbore 155.5 Equally as well. It has a 1-10 Twist rate i have taken these rounds out to 1220 yards with no issues as of yet.

Re: 1-10 twist and 155 gr Palma

Thanks for the info. I hate to spend another $30-50 on a box of bullets only to find they won't shoot and it's something that I should have figured out before buying.

Re: 1-10 twist and 155 gr Palma

My gun shot the 2155 Palma SMKs very well, then I switched to the 155 Scenars and I have not run through my stash of 2K scenars to be able to try the 155 Bergers or the 2156 Palma SMKs.

ETA: My gun has an excellent shooting node down at 43.6gr Varget and another excellent shooting node up at 47.8 gr Varget in Win cases with CCI primers.

I know this is an old thread, any update on the Sierra Palma in a 10" twist 308?

I keep thinking about some berger 155 or the sierra 155 palma. I want to go shoot a 500 yard F class and I think the lighter bullets can shrink the groups down some.
