Long and short of it is that my hunting rifle is a 223ai, and sports an 8 twist Brux in Shilen #3 Contour, finished at 22". Texas recently allowed hunting game animals suppressed, and it goes into effect 9/1. I plan on hunting 100% suppressed for the rest of my life.

My can is threaded 5/8x24" and the barrel is thin enough to not give me enough shoulder for the suppressor, it looks like...I am at .652" about a half inch down from the muzzle. If I thread the barrel 1/2x28", and then use an adaptor for 5/8x24", does anyone see a problem with this from an accuracy/suppression standpoint, assuming the threads are spot on?

For what it's worth, the cans are an SWR Omega 300, and a Thunderbeast 30p-1 (6 more months on this one....).

Thanks in advance.

There are a few adapters out there curently for this. I will try get back to you later tonight with a manufacturers name, cant remember offhand.

Ya, but for now if you buy an adapter you can start shooting it sooner. Im currently in Texas so we might have to do some shooting this weekend...

I have been considering the same issue with a 243. The thing that sticks out in my mind is will there be enough shoulder for the thread adapter to square up, or are you going to run it all the way onto the threads and have the end of the barrel square it with the adapter? Would love to hear the results when you get them.
