Gunsmithing 1.450" Action in AICS?

Was thinking about building a 338 Lapua in AICS using a Lawton 8500 action. Problem is, the diameter of the action is larger than Remington and I'm not sure it would work. Anyone done this before? Other acceptable actions for 338 Lapua that will fit an AICS?

At SHOT show, Surgeon had a prototype AICS 2.0 stock that was going to be made by AI for their XL action. Don't know when this will be in production.
