We need to start a 1.5 mile club. Seems like yesterday when hitting the mile was a dream. Now, the mile doesn`t have quite the ring it used to. Lets see how many has hit 1.5 miles to thin out the crowd.

2400yds is the farthest ive taken my 7mm saum out to. It was tough, but manged to ring the steel a few times.

Id like to give 1.5 miles a try one of these days.

My best is 8 out of 10 hits at 2700 yards on a 30" target

N. Young was the shooter, I was the spotter at 3080 yards where he shot a 24" vertical group for 8 shots.

These were shot with a DTA HTI in 375 Cheytac with a Vortex Razor and Desert Munitions ammo.

We are going for 2 miles, 3520 yards this year.

Damn............

I'll be moving to Wapiti by this May. I too have a 375 that I shot 1800 yard and do very well. I'll need new shooting friends.

I have a 60 moa base....might need more. My scope is a N.F. The barrel is a Lawton....I never met the man.but..he was always very good to me.

Thanks for any help

100_2832.jpg hope the pic uploaded. this was us shooting with outrageous advantures outfitters in mobridge s.d. 300wsm, 210 bergers, bat action, 10x60 march scope. distance was 3642 yrds at pdog. with good wind, 90% of the shots hit the mound. no kills, but we sure as hell scared a few. on a side note, we had 313 moa dialed into the mount/scope. hope you like

6053_1099381402644_1037283_n.jpg this was us the previous you. 300wsm, 210 bergers, rem action, kreiger, 10x60 march. distance on that day was 3562yrds. i know is more on the benchrest type setup, but none the less, 3500+ shooting is still a long way off. again with kerry at outragious adventures in s. dakota. my longest confirm kill on a pdog is 2217yrds. all distances were measured with two seperate garmin gps's

I can run it just shy of 5 minutes, but am really catching my breath afterwards.

I envy those who can even try to shoot that far - my longest option is 1400m, and that is already a 6 hour drive and out of state...

Sooooooo, what your saying is you are the fastest man alive. Seeing as how the fastest mile is 3:43:13. That would put that person at that pace at 5:57:685 for 1.5 miles.

You need to quit lawyering and get some shoe deals and a few Gold Medals.

I am an avid runner, but you smoke all the competition.

Went out with a buddy and a pair of 7mm saums the other day to try our luck at 1.5 miles

Fairly calm, winds were switching directions (2-5 mph)

Target was 2ft by 3ft

My buddy had 4 impacts and I had 3. We were stoked just to get the first one, and with the electronic muffs we could hear them with no problems.
34-35 mils was our elevation.

That my freind is impressive! I think I viewed a video on here of you shooting 1 mile, impressive also.
I'm on my third saum, my first one ran a 180 Berger hybrid at 3160 fps, I had no problems getting to 1850, but I launched a few at 2k, and was quite a failure at it. I never could spot the impact, and it wasn't optic quality either. More so the vegitation around the target.
You have a slight advantage in the desert atmosphere, bieng able to spot a miss, but I had quite a elevation and speed advantage. So I just deemed it impossible, rethinking as I type.
Crunching my numbers, with an inflated bc at distance, I'll go subsonic at 2150, with 3040 fps, so your bullet makes it through all that relatively well.

OK, let's make it the 2K Club. What will be the cost of admission? Any witnessed hit on any target no matter how many tries?

My suggestion: Hit within three rounds on a 24"x36" target or smaller. Video proof earns membersip. And can't be from a bench.

We can come up with a cool patch for those willing to do what it takes. Any graphic artists out there?

Rather than hijack this thread, we should start a new one, let's call it,'Guys with little penis's that can only get to 2K"

I'm in, with the hit anyway, no vid, but witnesses.

Thanks Milo

we were surprised how well they did too
My Ballistic calc tells me they were going around 800-850 at that point. We took a picture of the target and all were solid impacts(no keyholes or tumblers)
We've got a patch in the mountain that's all sand, so the misses are very easy to spot and make adjustments
I was kicking myself for pulling my uso 5-25 off the saum, i was using an hdmr and the heat from the barrel and the glass make it tough that far away. Not to mention having to hold over 9 to mils lol!

What would one consider as entrance to the club? Hitting any target at that distance? Some level of competency at that distance? I like the idea, but 2640 is a damn long ways, and to really be "in the club" some guidelines would need to be established.

Just a thought,

Dark

Your SAUM is awesome , shooting it at a mile was like shooting a .308 at 900 yards; once you are on, it's impact after impact. I have been swapping scopes on my rifles, keeps me out of the game for now, I have to go to Jean to redo my dope for each rifle.
I had fun shooting your 7mm and 6.5 Creedmoor at BRPC; can't wait t'il Mark get his new SAC 338LM, we'll check it out at spot #2 (in a few months).
See you next time.
Good shooting.

1.5 miles would be fun as all hell, I hit a mile with my old 260 and it was a stretch. Mirage was pretty bad and I had my NF backed down to 9 just to half ass see the target which was a full size ipsc target. Managed to put 6 on it, measuring 10x14. I shot 15 rounds total on that set so averaged 40% hits, but hell it was a 20" 260 and my first time trying I'll take it lol.

Need to work up loads for my 280ai and 338lm so I can go out further.

I do agree some guidelines would be good, 1moa target? 2 moa?

I would love to when I get my rig back from pacnor but the longest range i have access to is 600. Its pretty tough in minnesota. If anyone has any suggestions within about 4 hours of duluth It would be much appreciated.
