#1 accessory for .308

Re: #1 accessory for .308

Is it really so bad that people want to "accessorize" their rifles? Not everyone is military sniper, or PMC guy or smoe crap and dont need adhere to a strict set of guidelines with their weapons. I dont understand why people on this site get so defensive when someone asks about a new product, or how to make their gun different, yada yada yada. For 1, its not your gun. 2nd, if the question annoys you, ignore it. Whats the point of talking smack over the internet guys some Joe Schmoe wants to add cigarette lighter or multi tool to their gun?

Re: #1 accessory for .308

OK everyone, I received the rifle last wednesday, too late in the day to go to the range, so I snuck out of Thanksgiving day (after the meal of course) and shot 40 rounds through it!!
I didn't know what to expect with the recoil. I have shot many rounds through my M4, and also my .30-06. So I was suprised that I could keep my focus through the scope after I pulled the trigger and still see my target!!!

I was very dissappointed in the Trigger. Its a good trigger if all you do with it is CQB ops, but lets face it, I'm not going to be clearing any rooms anytime soon.

So I need some advice on a good trigger. Christmas is coming up and my In-laws are VERY generous gift givers!! so lets here it! what are some of you favorite triggers??

It is hard to beat any of the Geissele Automatics trigger units. I have used their adjustable units, as well as their non-adjustable triggers, and they are excellent in every respect. For a non-adjustable trigger (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ROUTE unless you have considerable experience working on or shooting ARs), get either the Geissele SSA or SSA-E (Enhanced). You get a high quality trigger with a 2-stage pull (the SSA has a 1st Stage/Take up of 2.5lbs with a 2nd stage of only 2lbs...the SSA-E has a 2.3lb and 1.2lb respective pull weight).

There are many places you can get them, including MidwestPX (a site sponsor here), MidwayUSA, ADCO and others.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: ORD</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"Accessory" is a pretty broad term. Assuming you already have a rifle in good working order, free-floated, good glass/mount/rings, and all the basics covered, I would look at upgrading or buying:

1) a really good trigger (I like the Geissele triggers for the best 2-stage triggers on the market);

2) some Magpul LR20 PMAGs;

3) an Atlas bipod.

Again, depending on your rifle, how it is setup, etc., there may be things you should be looking at before any "accessories."</div></div>

love the Atlas bipod as well....you get what you pay for.

And that perfectly demonstrates what we are talking about. It's not about "aesthetics". It's about function. If you can't hit anything whats the use of a cool looking rifle?
