Let me preface this with the fact that Ive been a proud customer and user of Chip McCormick Magazines for years with my full-size 1911s and they have worked flawlessly through thousands of rounds. However, i just purchased the wife a Kimber Ultra CDP II this week (At her request, so no discussion about gun selection) and bought a CMC Match Grade 7rd Mag and a Wilson Combat 7rd mag to test in addition to the stocker to test for the feeding problems that people have posted about.
All 3 mags were working great until i loaded up the CMC for the 3rd time. I put 7 in the mag, let the slide forward, and took a shot. Next thing i know i feel the base plate fall out and the spring shoots into my hand. Startled, i move my support hand out of the way, and the magazine proceeds to spill its contents onto the range floor.
Turns out the 4 spot welds on the base plate all busted. Ill be sending the mag back to MidwayUSA and I'm definitely sure that it will be replaced without a hitch. I will still continue to purchase and use CMC mags, just wanted to share this incident with you guys.

p.s. The Wife's new Kimber, with the Wilson loaded up
