My brother wants to compete in some long range competitions that involve lots of walking. 25-30 miles a night. He can ruck at the Army standard pace but doesn't care to do it with his AI AW because he's not a masochist.

He thinks the solution is a 20" TRG42 (still heavy) I suggested a 24" 260 Surgeon in an adj htgwith light fill and a light or fluted medium Palma barrel.

Opinions?

How is he carrying it? The TAB Gear biathlon sling will make the AW more comfortable to carry. And is a lot cheaper then a new rifle and if he wants to sell that AW give me a call. If he wants performance and maintain a light weight, go with the varmint howa and run the B&C stock on it. And don't let him fool you, moving on foot 25-30 miles at night and having a 338 makes him a masochist
