I converted my 10-22 to 17 mach 2, and loved it. After I had it for a while, I had a cartridge go off out of battery, resulting in the loss of the extractor. One of those "Oh, well " things. I replaced the extractor, and all was well. For a while. Then it did it again.
I posted my troubles on The Hide, and was informed it is an ammo problem. In the same post, I asked if anyone had a 22 barrel they didn't need. Immediate reply, bought the barrel, and just yesterday converted back to 22.
Now I have a 17 Mach 2 barrel, Mattell stock, and heavy bolt handle that I have close to $200.00 in, and it has no purpose to me other than a large paper weight. Sux.
Maybe somebody will start making reliable ammo, and I will try it again.

Re: 10/22 conversion

I was pondering whether a new run of Hornady hm2 ammo would function differently. Seems the legacy of Ely still haunts the hm2. So the question is, what ammo were you shooting?
