10 Round Mags Are For Sale Again at A.R.C.

Well, my ARC mags arrived today. They have the red follower that you guys don't like.
I will just have to wait till my rifle arrives to see how they work.
If they hang up and nose dive like some of you describe, what follower should I replace the original with? But obviously, I'm hoping they run perfectly.

I have the MK Machining enhanced follower, but I found that 5rd AI internals work best.

blbennett1288,

Will you please confirm that you are saying you used the spring and follower from an AI 5rd .308 mag in the ARC 10-round mag to get optimum results? Or was it just the follower? Also was this across several actions/stocks/chassis or just the one? What caliber or calibers? Thanks!

Best regards,
TSean

I have only tried it in one rifle, a Tikka T3 6.5 Creedmoor in MPA chassis, but it has been tested for over about 400 rounds. Give me a month or 2 and i will have tested it in a TL3. Note that in my garage I can cycle any of the following configurations without issues, but once live firing I encounter issues. I have tried the ARC mag stock, with the MK Machining follower, and with all AI internals (spring and follower) from a 5rd AI mag. The ARC mag stock nose dived the most, with about 2 rounds per mag. The MK Machining follower nosed dived about one per mag. The ARC mag with the AI spring and follower only nose dived one out of 100 rounds.

It is worth noting that with any of these configurations, when it actually feeds correctly, the ARC mag is butter smooth. I dont know if it is the coating or that the rounds are angled upwards already or a combination, but it feels great. It is so much smoother than any AI mag I have ever tried that it is worth the additional cost of making them work with AI internals.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm going to wait till my rifle arrives and see how they work before I do any tinkering. I'm hoping that the ARC mags in an ARC action (Nucleus) works flawlessly.

Thank you very much for the details! I have several ARC mags that I use across several setups with varying degrees of success. Stock they have worked for me with Bighorn TL3's in KRG Whiskey 3 chassis, as well as an Atlas Tactical in a KRG W3. Also they have worked in a Defiance Deviant Hunter/EH1A/M5 enhanced DBM setup.

They were semi-finicky in a Tikka T3x CTR/ KRG Bravo chassis setup (enough to cause concern), but have been doing better with the MK machine followers. AI 5 round mags work great.

The only case where the ARC mags did not work at all for me is in a Mausingfield/Magpul Hunter 700 with Magpul DBM setup (didn't seat high enough to feed). This is a particularly finicky combo though where I had to test/handpick all the AI mags I use with it to ensure function. The Hunter 700 stock with DBM seems to be more finicky with custom actions in general as I had the same experience with a Bighorn TL2/Hunter 700 with DBM combo (again worked fine with handpicked AI and Accurate mags). Great stock overall though.

All calibers are 6.5 Creedmoor. Also I agree the ARC mags feed very smoothly.

Thanks again for the info/clarification. I will have to cannibalize an AI mag and give those internals a try for another reference. Have a good one!

I received three ARC mags today, and of those, two work while the third refuses to feed with only one or two rounds in it. This is in a Howa 1500 with CDI bottom metal.

ETA - These mags also require a LOT to fully seat. As in, I have to palm strike them to fully seat while a Magpul 5 rounder slides in and locks effortlessly.

I have 2 Original ARC mags that have been flawlees in my XLR/TL3 6.5x47L. I just tested them last week in a MPA BA Competition with my TL3 and they ran without issue for the 50 or 60 rounds I put through it.

I just ordered 2 more yesterday hoping they have this new follower so I can test those out as well.

Here are a couple pics of what's going on with my magazine ... it's more of an "assdive" rather than a nosedive.

I have two one was purchased about a year ago and one around 2 months ago, both have ran fine in two different rifles in 6 creed for about 1200 rounds.I need to order a couple more

I have 2 that are doing the exact same thing I have tried putting AI spring and follower in them and they still do it, not every round but enough that it gets aggravating. I am running mine in a Surgeon 591 so I will try the feed lips and see if that will fix the issue.

Surgeons are almost all of the actions that won't work with our followers FYI. Some do run, but most people still experiencing nosedives tell me they have a Surgeon.
