Dave, I understand. You're vested and you don't want to feel like you've been taken.

Whether you are taking credit for it or not you should be able to support and defend your position. I didn't invent the 243. Can you refute what I've said? Because if not, that's fine but don't make boastful claims. Shoot your chambering and enjoy it but stop with the wonder bread rhetoric.

I think it's brilliant. Create hype and then control the distribution. Hello Apple, Inc. anyone?

Next, the 6mm Creedmore. Two thoughts. First, we all know how well the performance of the 243 w/115 shines. So why not try it in an AR platform? Well you need a long (27"+) barrel to really get the velocities. If you can't get the velocities you cannot get the advantage. Running a 243 with a short barrel does not allow you to take advantage of the 115's BC due to reduced velocity. Running an AR with a 28" barrel is not very feasible. Both have been tried years ago (again, I've been witness to this) and the conclusion was made it was a waste of time.
Second, with the popularity of the 260 with hand loaders Hornady decides to step up with the 6.5 Creedmoor; essentially a 260 with a different case shape and very similar performance. And here's the kicker, it's available as a FACTORY match load. What? No more hand loading to get great performance from the 6.5 bullets? Kick ass! How does it run in an AR? It runs fantastic, kick ass! Now the idea kicks in. George (again) says "let's neck down a 6.5 Creedmoor to a 6 Creedmoor and see what she does". What does it do? In a bolt gun it runs well and performs admirably but what does it do in an AR? It feeds extremely well and it throws the 105s at 3000fps. Prayers have been answered, a 6mm that can run from an short barrel AR and give 243 (the gold 6mm standard) performance. So to answer your question about is it marketing? Well, where do you get 6 Creedmoor brass? You either make it yourself or you buy it from 1 source, GAP. Where do you get a 6 Creedmoor die set? Exclusively at GAP. Where do you get the 6 Creedmoor chambering? Exclusively at GAP. Is it marketing? You tell me.

</div></div>

Clarification specifically regarding the exclusivity of any of George's caliber developments:

1. They are not exclusive or copyrighted, call PTG and get a reamer made today if you wish.

2. Same goes for brass on the 6mm Creedmoor--call Hornady and get yourself a batch made.

3. George develops these calibers to address specific performance needs or restrictions, he thinks they are a neat and shares with the community by putting money behind the ideas (purchasing batches of dies or brass) so that it's not a complete pain the ass for everyone else to try it out.

4. the idea we put out calibers for 'marketing' makes no sense. why the hell would George name the 6 creedmoor with another company's name?

---it couldn't be any simpler than this: if the caliber fits your bill, great--if it doesn't, pick something that does!

Re: Chad Dixon Competition Match ****UP DATE**********

DaveD, have you run your 6CM to 3500 rds + with 1/2 MOA? If not, why make the claim. If so, that's an amazing feat.

I've been conservatively running a 6mm AI for a long time now. It will push 105 Hybrids well beyond 3200 FPS. It will actually get the 107 Sierras up to 3400+, but there's no point.

Dave,
How apropo you decided to edit your post. first smart thing you've done as I don't have an "ignore" list, I have a "banned" list. And yes, I did read your post before you edited it. You're smart to keep it civil.

When you come on Sniper's Hide and make a claim, especially a claim that goes well beyond the accepted norm, your claim will get questioned. If that questioning is a source of frustration for you, you're more than welcome to not come on the Hide. You do not have to answer my inquires, but I will make them as will others. Your circumvention of direct questions concerning YOUR claims serves nothing more than to raise eyebrows upon the validity of said claims.

Now to touch on Ken's post since I spoke with both George and Ken this evening. After we finished laughing I told them I would add a note saying I want to be clear that those cartridges created by George did not have marketing as their primary objective, marketing was an added benefit to get a return on George's investment. George has always been at the forefront of promoting the shooting sports and doing what is best for the shooters and shooting community. He has proven this time and time again by his actions.
