115 DTAC

So I had a 6mm Creedmore built on a Tikka action and Proof 7.5 twist barrel. It shoots the factory hornady 108 rounds really well. I am wanting to switch to the 115 DTACs but I am had really bad luck with moly coated bullets years back. It ruined a barrel for me. Yes...I sent it to a competent smith and they even tried to clean it with no real success. Is the Boron Coating worth a shot?

Anyone one on how well the dtac stands up to the rdf? My current rdf load seems pretty great and the blems are dirt cheap, only I’m out and they aren’t coming in stock as soon as I would like. And if I’m going to pay full price for the rdf the dtac isn’t that much more so if it’s better then that would seem to be the prudent move.

I can’t give you a comparison with the RDF, but the DTAC is a really well constructed bullet. Amazing how small they can get the meplat for a tangent nose. I’ve never been dissapointed with them. I have thousands on standby for when I spin up my next 6mm whatever.

I shot a couple thousand naked RBT’s last year, great shooting bullet. They flew true to their BC driven 3050 from a 243. Definitely one of the top 6mm choices and you can usually find them in stock.

I decided against trying the coated ones because I’m not a fan of introducing something to my barrel that I may not get out and would be committed to using.

I've ran 1400 coated rbt dtac through my 6 creed with great results. All I've ever done is clean carbon out every 300rds or so. Bought coated because they were in stock at the time and typically are more often than naked.

I've ran both but in 2 different rifles. The rdf was/is a solid bullet but falls short of the dtac bc with my other setup. Still it was better than hybrids I had been running.

I have ran both in .243 win coated in one gun and uncoated in another. Diff barrel lengths but can see no difference between the two. Great bullets. I may get beat up on this but I’ve been using them for hunting for a couple years and haven’t had anything move yet. Had a poor call on a mover goat last week and hit it in the ass and it went right down.

DTAC is a good bullet but I decided to go with the 108 ELDM and a 110 SMK since the DTAC is basically a FMJ and where I live that is an issue. I am working on those loads right now and hope to have good results. H4350 seems to be the powder of choice for this barrel.

i shot the DTACs in 5 6CM barrels...best 6mm bullet made IMHO...run them at 3025-3050 at .020 off the lands and your golden...and skip the HBN.

Are you shooting them at critters or targets?

no that is not true in all the DTACs ive shot.

More critter shooting than targets I suppose. I only hunt coyotes but shoot steel a lot.

I have killed numerous coyotes and foxed with 115 DTACs. They sure aren't a Nosler Ballistic Tip at the speed of heat, but they do their job much better than a FMJ would. They work ok on prairie dogs, but I mainly use plastic tipped bullets for small critters.
