Have you heard any feedback or developed any great loads for the 130 TTSX for a Remington LTR 308?

I have Lapua brass, CCI BR primers and Varget on hand

the LTR with a Jewell trigger shoots one ragged hole, 5 shots I can cover with a dime with the 165g Sierra 165g BSTP and 44.5g of Varget with a COAL of 2.80

I would love to try the 130s in it if I could get it to shoot as well.

I am on the Barnes prostaff and sent in the same request to my contacts

thanks

why change?
oh, no real need to change of course
all in the name of research

I have seen how effective the Barnes out of my 6.8....

Re: 130g Barnes TTSX in a 308 LTR?

I built (3) .308s in 2008 with short fat barrels.
I went through a box of 130 gr TSX bullets without ever getting a group.

I am sure they are great bullets and it is all my fault, but still, I have been now conditioned to stay away.

The TTSX bullets are somewhat sensitive when it comes to seating depth. I found that somewher between 15-30 thousandths off the lands worked best. My Kimber loved them! Play with OAL.

Re: 130g Barnes TTSX in a 308 LTR?

I could not get the Barnes to shoot well enough to satisfy me in a .308 Patriot....granted at much faster velocity than the .308 Winchester. I tried the 130 and the 168. Ended up going with a 150gr Nosler. I have gotten the 53 gr DPX to shoot very well in a couple of .223's That particular rifle (the Lazerroni) did not like Barnes bullets. The Lazerroni was a single shot so I was ablt to try many variations off the lands with no consistency.

hey do you happen to still have the info for this i see the photo isnt available im looking to push some 130ttsx from my sons 22" rifle i have several manuals but barnes data shows a crazy velocity that im not sure is realistic and am just looking for real world info. thanks

Just go to the Barnes reloading data site for 308: https://www.barnesbullets.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/308WinchesterForWeb.pdf

Find a powder that you have, load it to near max, seat the bullet to 2.735" and go from there. I've shot a bunch of Barnes TTSX. They like to be loaded fast and jumped at least .050". Don't load them to the lands.

I load them in 30/06, 270 Win and 260 Rem. We in California have to use non lead for hunting. A couple of years ago, I changed my main hunting rifles over to non lead. I found the Barnes TTSX was the most accurate out of my rifles.

I shoot a 110 TTSX in my 270 @ magnetospeed of 3200 + FPS. MOA @ 300 yards.

I started this quest at the barnes site. They are claiming 56.4g of blc-2 fits in a 308 case. And they are getting 3280+ fps. From a 130g ttsx i wouldnt start at max charge eitherway but. 56.4. Leaves less than 1/16" in the case neck. I personaly have never loaded anything that compressed before. So. Just reaching out. For anyone that may have been down that road before
