You use the laser to be on paper the first shot at close range so you can see where you are hitting and can therefore make your adjustments to have a perfect zero (point of aim= point of impact. Some are the kind you insert like it is a round and some attach to the end of your muzzle, neither can give you the aiming point you want for different reasons. You can do the same thing looking down the bbl (from the chamber end) and adjusting your scope till they are both in the same ballpark area. If your having trouble starting at 25yds or a big piece of cardboard at 100yds should get you rolling. Good luck
