Shoe me some setups. I am in the build process and looking for ideas. No POFs please. Trying to decide on rail length and ultimately the rail itself. I like keymods over 12".

This is a scout rifle so wondering if I really need something that long.

You're wondering if you can get by with less than 14" since its role will be a scout rifle...is that correct?

Never had anything less than 16", and it worked great as a general hunting rifle. Had a vortex fh on it and never noticed much flash. Going shorter than 14" in a .308 might be turning it into more of a flame thrower though. If you are set on going shorter, perhaps something in the AR15 platform (like a 6.8) would be better if you are intent on having a short barrel??? You'd really be losing a lot of horsepower with the 308 being that short, where something like the 6.8 shines at those lengths. P.S. Not a 6.8 fanboy...don't even own one (have in the past though).

I have a JP LRP-07 in .308 with a 14.5" barrel with a 1.5" Pin & Welded Titanium Comp. and I like this set-up better than my 16" LRP-07. I find it to handle better, faster and actually feels better balanced overall, I don't lose any accuracy and can shoot out to 800 yards with deadly accuracy the only draw back is you will lose some velocity and it is harder to shoot at longer distance. This is my go to rifle if shit hits the fan. Also this rifle has a Trijicon ACOG ta11-j scope and the TOTAL WEIGHT IS 7.9 lbs which is light and has very little recoil.

+1 for 6.8 in shorter than 16" .308. You are going to be a real fireball and lose your aditional advantage in the ratio of energy to length. A mid caliber on a small frame would be sweet. Also a super short .308 will increase supressors wear.
