155 GR Scenar 308 Varget & IMR 4064

I worked up loads with Sako TRG Mod 22. Imr 4064 44.5 grains and Varget 46.6 grains both touching hole groups on mixed brass. 4064 get a little bump but no sign of excess pressure.

I've noticed some powders seem to recoil more than others for a given velocity. I have no scientific facts to back it up it just feels like more.

I will say that of all the powders I've shot (and I've tried just about every powder that works) in a 308, IMR 4064 was the softest recoil of them all. Again, simply based on how it felt on my shoulder.

I like the 4895 or Hodgdon Benchmark powders for the lighter bullets, and Varget, or IMR 4064 for the 175's.

I've never tried 2000MR powder but I've heard really good things about it for 185gr bullets in 308.

My go to load was 45 grains of varget and 155 scenar. Had multiple rifles that really like that

I have gotten excellent results on multiple different loads & projectiles in the 308 with Varget. Never noticed any excessive recoil.

My 24" Kreiger loved the 155gr Scenar with 47.2gr of Varget. Speeds were 3050fps. Great kilometre plinker. I did step it out to 1200m, but not much after that.

I probably have 4-5 different loads for my TRG most are 165-168 Gr Barnes, etc but all shoot in hole groups. Around 45-45.5 Gr.
