155 scenar .308

Re: 155 scenar .308

I agree Will has defiantly got it down just wondering what everyone else thought? I ordered them from midway but I can't get my hands on anymore varget here locally I don't want to pay for the haz mat to get it shipped

Re: 155 scenar .308

I use 155 Scenars exclusively in my .308 now. Honestly, I can't see using anything else anymore.

I'm running 45.6grs of Varget in Lapua brass currently but just loaded some lower charges yesterday since I am getting heavier pressure signs now for some reason. Going to work up from 44.0grs again and see what my rifle likes accuracy-wise.

Re: 155 scenar .308

44.5 gr of RE15 OAL set at 2.850 shot well through my M700 VSF using remington Brass and Federal match primers.
Not my favorite load but it's a little cheeper to shoot.

46.8gr of VV N540 with lapua brass
and match primers has yielded the best results for me.

Re: 155 scenar .308

Does the 155 scenar like to jump or jammed into the lands more (in the .308)? I've found the 6mm 105 scenar likes to be in the lands .010 to .015" in my 6xc and 6br rifles. I've just picked up a couple boxes of 155 for the Palma gun.

155 Naked Scenars
46.2gr RL15
Lapua brass
2.855" OAL
CCI BR2 Primers
2928fps out of 24" Remmy 5R

Shot 1/3moa 5 shot groups at 100 yards pretty much all day with different drivers (me included)

Re: 155 scenar .308

I'm currently jumping my Scenars .050 and my average group size is right around 1/2 moa. Could surely do better but I only started loading a few months back.

Re: 155 scenar .308

For Europeans:

155scenar (non moly)
43gr N140
COAL = 72mm ~ 2,835"
RWS brass
RWS 5341
Tikka T3 tac. 24"

Best group 4 (cold shot went 1cm up) shot .183moa and 5 shot .197moa (with norma brass though).

!!!!Also promising is 47gr N140 however that was done in cold weather -3°c/26°F and this load WILL be way over pressure in warmer weather or in your rifle!!!!

According to Mr. Lewis himself

Hart barrel 27" 14 twist,
308 Win with .335 neck, Lapua brass,
Lapua 155 Scenar moly coated,
Win primer,
45.5 gr Re15 powder

This is the best part
Stock is made from Lowes poplar laminated with standard wood glue. The front half of the rifle is an aluminum "I" beam turned on its side with a lot of machining. The bedding is a 7" glued barrel block. Total cost (ignoring my shop time) was about $60.
The action is a stock Remington 700 with a cleaned up bolt. I had to lengthen the bolt handle to clear the wide stock.
The scope is a Nightforce

Re: 155 scenar .308

I'm another 155 Scenar convert. I use Lapua brass, Fed 210M primers, and Varget powder in a 24" Bartlein barrel with excellent results. Sub 1/2 MOA on a calm day consistently.
