208 is not an unmanageable weight for the .308, many are doing it, and doing quite well with it. I only have a 20" barrel, and i'm still able to get velocities upwards of 2600fps. I stick with 2500 as it's within' my safety limits.

if you don't believe me try this guy. He is much smarter than I.

G1's still have their place, and they are accurate out to 1000 yards for most applications, it's once you get past that where the G5 works better. The difference between G1 and G7 inside of 800 yards is quite small. If all you have to work with is a G1 BC, it's still a fully functioning standard for the time being.

uhhh, ya. And cannon balls launched at enough velocity will hit at about the same. </div></div>
Dude seriously?? Do you work at covertly hiding internet sarcasm? Or are you just a jerk that persists in making douche-like comments leading a newer member in perhaps the wrong direction? It's obvious that you haven't worked with the heavies and don't know the advantages thereof, perhaps you should try a few things before you start knocking them.

G1 is a ballistic coefficient that compares the BC of the bullet your looking at, to that of a standard bullet, it's basically a drag coefficient. it's a number that, when plugged into a ballistic computer, will spit out the drop tables, and velocity tables of that bullet as it travels downrange. That's the quick and dirty, i'm sure Lindy can quite easily give you the more technical description of what it is, he's much more eloquent in his word usage than I.
