Maggie’s 155MPH Lunatic

It's not the fall or the speed that kills......it's the sudden stop and ensuing SPLAT! That guy is nuts.
In college I used to hang aroung with guys (and girls) who did things like that: Base jumping, free-soloing and the like. From the outside looking in it seems nuts at first, but at the end of the day it's really not as crazy as it first appears.

In my crazy days of youth I did many a thing that would be considered crazy by a lot of people. I don't consider BASE jumping nuts or even wingsuit flying crazy, UNTIL you try to fly through a hole in a rock at 155mph. Way too many variables for that to have a large enough safety margin for me.

I was gonna say the EXACT same thing but you beat me to it. Those things PALE in comparison to what this guy did.

I remember where one flyer attempted to fly past a bridge, and smacked into it..he died obviously. a very close friend of mine's brother was one of the people who was incolved in very early base jumping...he also died on a jump. Although Imused to be an adenaline junkie of sorts, I never got into base jumping, or parachuting.

My favorite section of the TT course is Ballacraine to Handley's Corner, you're under the trees and it flows very nicely - almost like a race track. At Cronk y Voddy there's usually a crosswind that gets up under the bike and it's a hard not to become a passenger waiting for the bike to settle back down. Then three lefts before Windy Corner on the mountain section is awesome when you get it right... And frustrating when you don't.

These guys doing the wing suit stuff are all completely nuts, how do you practice for this crap? Your first actual jump has to be insanely unnerving. It must be such an amazing feeling doing this though, the only way to truly fell like your flying, I wish I had the balls.

You practice by doing wingsuit jumps out of an airplane like a regular skydive. Progress to proximity flying with other wingsuiters to learn to fly close to things. And so on. These guys have HUNDREDS of wingsuit jumps.
