I’ve got a 16.5” proof steel being spun up right now for a Curtis Axiom and are curious as to what velocities people are seeing with the 110s to the 143s. I am hoping for 2500-2550 with the 140s. 2750 with the 110 hammer hunters.

I have a 6.5x47 Kimber Montana with a 21" barrel which clocked around 2750fps with a 130gr Berger VLD-H. I cut the barrel to 18" a few years ago and its going around 2675fps with the same load/bullet ( 37.3grs Varget, 130gr Berger VLD-H, CCI BR4, Lapua brass). You will lose/gain around 25-30fps per inch, but the shorter barrel makes for a faster handling, easier to carry rifle. It's my favorite back country packing rifle.
