Here are my favorite rifles to shoot. Cooper model 38’s in 17 & 22 squirrel. I really have grown fond of the small calibers since I retired from the military. The 17 squirrel is A very unique round, it’s a 22 hornet cut down to about an inch and then necked down. At only 5.5 gr of powder and 29 gr v max bullets I get 3360 FPS. one pound of powder gets me around 1K rounds and with that little powder barrel life is exceptional. With my 22 squirrel same process but I only get about 2200 FPS. the barrel on it will never burn out, I don’t think. They are ultra quiet and a blast to load for and shoot. Y’all should try it sometime. Here are some pics. The picture showing the round has a quarter next to it to give you an idea of the size. Brass life is phenomenal as well. I love sniping crows with them, ever been a fan of punching paper. Oh, and with those v max bullets there is no ricochet, and hardly ever an exit wound. Great for fur.
