I am looking for info on .17 semi autos. I see that Volquartsen makes one but I have not heard how well they hold up and actual accuracy. Anybody have any experience with these or one like it? On another note, at what point does barrel lenght become obsolete? Legend has it, the longer barrel will shoot faster...

Re: .17 semi auto

I had a 10-22 Magnum that I converted to .17HMR and it was great. Wish I could find another one; I've got another Butler Creek conversion kit. A friend has the Volquartsen and it's accurate and holding up well. I've looked at the Magnum Research rifles as well but have no experience with them.

Re: .17 semi auto

If you have the $ and can find one get a VQ 17HMR. I just got one about a month ago. What a shooter it is!!! Right about .5 MOA at 100 yards with a bipod and a rear bean bag. And mine is a Lightweight model with the carbonfiber barrel. I have a Magnum Research 22 Mag that is very nice but i think the VQ is worth the price difference.
