Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 vs FNX Tactical

Thats still shooter dependent. I have smallish hands and a single stack feels way too narrow for me. I can't get enough meat on the grips to get it to behave right. A 2011 feels just a hair bigger than I'd like but is way easier to control. A CZ75 is the middle of the road Goldilocks porridge that anyone can use well.

I tried the CZ. Nice gun. It felt good. The 1911 just felt better to me and I shoot better with it. I think you’re right about it being shooter dependent.

like the old truck that has sat for years and starts quickly new cars rust too under all that plastic why ask why ? it just is . If you do not want one don't get it I am still waiting to see a union switch and signal 1911 45 that i could afford come my way then onto other 45's . I like 9mm they work as well and 10mm and every 357 - 454 not cause i need them which I do mostly , cause I want them I save I buy what ever it is then I have and repeat the process . I do not need cowboy era guns I want them as well I will never ride the well nowadays less than open ranges never fight off Indians attacking the home they are fun to shoot great stress relievers and all around good clean fun .

I won't ask to be buried with my tupperware, but maybe my 1911.

Thought I'd NEVER be a 1911 guy, until I shot a buddy's. Probably the best ergo's of any of my pistols, for me personally.

People get used tp different ergonomics. Me, with not all that big hands:
- SIG P226 (old): too big and blocky grip. Managed to shoot it OK anyway.
- Beretta 92: too big and blocky grip.
- CZ75 (old original): pretty good - perhaps a bit on the small side.
- Ruger GP100, with the bubber and wood panel grips, or the more recent wooden grips: nice. Best revolver grips I've tried.
- 1911: Good size for me. Just make sure there's something grippy on the front strap. Mine has skateboard tape.
- 2011 with plastic grip: too big and blocky grip
- Glock (9mm versions): good size grip. Trigger quality varies hugely - mine is pretty good. Grip angle is DIFFERENT from 1911 or 2011 - works great when you get used to it.
- CZ TS: Wonderful. A TSO is on my "list"

So I picked up a new FNX (Venom installed) a few weeks ago. So far, I'm not impressed. It was going to be my new nightstand gun but, at this point my Kimber Super Carry Pro will keep that job. I've got over 1000 rounds through the Kimber without ever having a single malfunction with any ammo.

The FNX had a bad start. Initially it wouldn't fully eject a single round. After about 40 rounds it started spitting the cases clear but wouldn't push flat nosed target ammo up the feed ramp. After switching to round nosed ball, cleaning and oiling a couple times and about 250 rounds through it, it will feed just fine but, the slide still refuses to lock back on last round. Seriously frustrating for a fairly expensive gun that has such a great reputation. Probably going to send it in to FN to sort out.

I have the FNX 45, not the tactical, and I haven't had any issues except with some cheap ass Aguila ammo. It was department issued and you could just feel the lip where the casing and bullet met. Those 4-5 rounds were the only malfunctions I've ever had with it ?‍♂️ . If I were you, I'd definitely consider sending it in to make sure everything checks out. I trust mine enough that I carry it for duty everyday.
