1940's Kodachrome photos of war effort

Re: 1940's Kodachrome photos of war effort

Such awesome pieces of artwork. I often wonder if the United States still has what it takes to unite as a country to face a common enemy.

I'm only 30 and I regularly hear stories about the WWII effort and how all political bullshit was put aside for us to unite and kick the living shit out of our enemies.

What an impressive generation. My grandmother worked at the Berwick, Pennsylvania AC&F who built Sherman tanks while my deceased grandfather was an airplane (bomber) mechanic in Europe in the 1940's.

He died in 1977, four years before I was born but I always get told of how he got shot down over Nazi Germany and lived in a foxhole for a week before being rescued by allied forces.

+1 grandpa, and +1 to your generation.

Thanks for sharing Arctic! At the top of the post that the link opens there is another link that shows it in English. Incredible photos and amazing capture of history.

THE greatest generation.

Reminds me of old photos of my grandfather. He was a WWII and Korea vet. Talk about irony: he was on the SS Leopoldville when it was sunk....which probably ended up saving his life. IIRC, he was on his way to the Battle of the Bulge.
