Been lurking for a long time. Just bought a 16.5" AAC 308 and had some questions. The only other bolt gun I am used to is my Remington 700 PSS 300 win mag that I've kept stock. It shoots better than I am capable of, but I can already tell with the AAC, the stock is the 1st weak link. I will be using this gun to hunt/compete with and in the future let my son use. I like the looks of some of the more "tacti-cool" stocks, but think an adjustable LOP/cheek ht M40 style stock would be better used (main stock I am researching is the HS M24 Pro series police or tactical).

What barrel profile is the AAC? I would assume I need the Police since it states it is for the shorter barrels. What makes it better suited for the shorter? Any other things I need to do to get this thing shooting well. I've already ordered a SWR 762 suppressor so that should be here any day.

Mine actually shot very well off a bipod, but I dropped it in a Boyds thumbhole so we will see if that helped any or not. uploadfromtaptalk1390271041770.jpg

Emaher308, that's what I want to hear. What barrel length? VinnieJ, good looking rifle. I'm still debating on a stock. When I get my scope back I plan to do a build post so people can see how it shoots out of the box and then with improvements.

It was windy as crap, and freezing cold the day I got the chance to shoot. That said I was hitting steel with every shot. Now I've got a stock that's not made out of jello, so i can't wait to see what I can manage with it.
